Are there any differences between the two? They look very similar and I believe the original price for them were similar as well. Is the CS400i a later version of the CS400?

i do believe so myself. Not 100% sure though. I have the cs400 myself. The only diff I see is the cs400 has the blackish/grey midwoofers and the cs400i's have the blueish woofer....as for the drivers themselves..i think they are the same...

400 has the silk... vs. the 400i wich has the trilaminate metal tweeter.... wich matches the RT_ _i series...not the new ones. I imagine the 400 would match up better with polks newer line...then the one it just replaced

wow...1000i's for rears..impressive. I thought I went overboard with having 800i's for surround. I dont think you will have any issue since its center to rears...mix... maybe if you ran 5.1audio..you may notice a diff... but other than that...

    have fun

The only reason I have rt1000's for rears is that I found them at Good Guys(audio video store in so cal) for such a good deal. They were floor models. I used to have a set of rm6200's and was only using 2 satellites for the rears. I bought the rt1000's, so I sold the rm6200's on ebay a couple of weeks ago. I really wanted a fuller sound out of the rears, especially since I was playing SACD multichannel and DD movies. I also thought about the rt55i's, but it didn't make sense. Get the rt1000's with no stands for the same price as a pair of rt55i's with stands. The rt1000i's had subwoofers...that was the deal breaker...

I like you rt800i's too. I had a chance to snag those up, but unfortunately the pair they had were damaged.

The only difference I can tell running 5.1 SACD audio, is that I have to have the subwoofer volume control down on the rear subs. If I have them turned up, it kinda sounds like exagerated bass from the rears. I listen to the James Taylor CD Hourglass, abd on song # 4 Gaia at 4:09 secs. The bass that rumbles through all the speakers is spactacular. That is why I love my Polks

I started with the 1000i's and they are exceptional speakers..but I traded them in for the 2000i's and never looked back....The sub was just a little weak for me on the 1000i's..but always thought they would be killer for surround. I still might find a sub on discount and put on my rears..since i run them large anyway.

    Stuff gets addicting..:)

    peace
