I finally added my system to the showcase. Check it out and tell me what you think. I am now running tubes :D

    I can vouch, that is a great sounding set up, especially for that room. its like the 8 watts is almost overkill, takes a good 20-30 minutes to warm up, but after the tubes are warmed up, its all good.

    the RTA-12B's seem very well suited for tubes too. overall, very impressive.

    Wait...you have to sit 30 minutes waiting for the system to warm up before you can start listening?

    I am too old to wait. By the time the tubes warm up, my ears would be too deaf to hear them.

    Are all tube systems like that? I guess I never noticed such a thing with my guitar amps.

    I would think with the demand from a guitar amp it warms up pretty quickly.. if you start playing right away,

    tubes can work in 1 -2 minutes.. 10-15 mins mine seems to be all warmed up and sounding normal.. the first few minutes the drive and impact isnt quite there..

    to some extent. some more than others, my anthem gear takes about 20 minutes to get the best sound out of it. the difference between warm and cold is subtle, but noticable. Dave (Fireman32's) system took about 20-30 minutes (I wasnt timing it) to really come in and sound smooth. the difference was more than subtle, my wife even noticed it, and she's an audio enthusiast about as much as I am into crocheting (hint....not much).

    at the offset, when we hooked up the Radii amp, it sounded..almost...dare I say harsh. Definitly sibilance seemed to be an issue, but it might have been the recording, since we were listening to Garth Brooks Live (yes, dave is a redneck).

    It sounded very clear and detailed from jump street, but the issues noted above worried me. I didnt think it was an issue of warm up at the time, but once it did warm up. WOW. I was very surprised with the sound coming from this little system. The room it is in helps. small, pretty accoustically dead for a small apartment environment. It was cool, because I owned most of the electronics, as well as the speakers at some point.

    listenned to music and a movie for a good shank of the night, both very pleasurable experiences.

    Thanks much for the info. Maybe someday I'll get some tube amps. Too many other hobbies to feed besides audio. :o

    Thanks everyone for all of the positve comments. Being that all of the equipment besides the TV has been in Lou's house at one time I knew i was getting all quality equipment and he woud not steer me wrong. Next purchase will probably be a tube cd player.
