Can a MW6502 from a monitor 7 replace a MW6500 in a monitor 10a? How different are they? Thanks.

The MW6502 is designed for the single 6.5" driver speakers such as the Monitor 5 and 7. I think MW6503 is the currently replacement of the 6500. I also have a 10a that has 2 siege 6500. These drivers are fragile :-) Can you replace the 6500 by 6502? I will say probably "yes", but there will be sonic change. If you happen to have a 6502 around, then try it, it won't hurt. Worst come the worst, put back the bad 6500. If you have to pay for the 6502, then forget it, not worth. Hope this will help.

Thanks. i'll try it when I get it. If not, i'll hang on to it for a 5 or 7 purchase down the road.

MY 7b's are the same design as the 7's and the 7a's. Peerless and fused. The mw6500 came with these. The difference in the mw6500 and the mw6502 (according to CS) is the ohms. My monitor 4's have the mw6502. I took out the mw6502 from the monitor 4's and put one in the 7b's. Having a higher ohms (resistance), it backed off (lower dbs) the mid alittle. Creating IMO a little brighter sound. I can see nothing wrong with the mw6502 in the 7's. But I wanted mine like they were built.

P.S. I did notice a change in sound when putting the new mw6503 in the 7b's. The mw6503 is the replacement driver for the mw6500, but the I found the midbass from the 6500 was smoother.

    I have Monitor 4/5/7/10 . . .The 4/5/7 all have mw6502 drivers while the 10s are 6503 IIRC.

Both my 4s were seized so I put 6500s in them . . .Personally I can hear no difference. . .

Soon all will be replaced with new drivers including tweeters. . .costly but I love the energy.

I use 10s up front a single 7 for center 5s as rear and 4s as rear surround. . . Then with my SVS PB12isd2 it is awesome for HT. . .Not bad for music either. . .

Everyone I speak to says that in thier vintage 7's, wether its 7's or 7a's or 7b's from 70's too early 80's, has mw6502. Does anyone know why my '81 7b's would have mw6500 instead?

Does anybody know the difference between the MW6502 & MW6503 as far as power handling or freq response? Wondering if I can use a MW6503 in a Monitor 5 cabinet?
    Thanks.
