R30's don't even compare to the 5b's. 5b's are a classic Polk speaker in my book and the newer series hasn't got anything on them other than a slicker look. 5b's without question, especially if they are the series II w/ the sl2500 tweet (black). A slightly better sounding tweet than the sl2000.

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul!

I appreciate the dialogue. Trust me, it helps. I will just deal with the 5b's. They sound real sweet. Thanks

Use the search function. There is endless talk about the various polk tweeters that have been used. Peerless, SL1000, SL2000, SL2500, SL3000, Trilaminant, silk dome, etc., etc., etc.

I bought some 5's new in 1984 when I was 17. They were awsome.
