WTB subwoofer

I am looking to buy the best subwoofer out there in the 200-300 range. Used is preferred, which is why I posted here. However, should someone want to recommend a good buy on a refurb, etc., please let me know. In particular I see there are Athena subs, Cadence sub, and some other Polk and Velodyne in this category. It will be purely for home theater and purely for lows as I recently picked up a rt20p, cs1000p and fx1000 setup from another polkie. I just feel like I need more bass. In the alternative, I would welcome comments about saving for the 400-500 range subs, as well. Thanks.

    I plan on selling my sub - its the PSW300 which works quite well. I am getting an SVS PS12 Plus/2 which should arrive next week, or the week after.

    I dont have the instruction manual or original box.

    If you want the best deal you can get and don't want to say "it could go a little deeper or pack a bigger punch" just save your $ and get a SVS. I went with a budget sub then made the move to SVS. Save your $ a few more months and just get the SVS.

    SVS B-Stock on a PB10-ISD isn't a bad option. A little more than your price, but if you save a few additional pennies you can get into a pretty potent sub for $399. I would look in that direction if I were looking for a home theater sub and not looking to drop a lot.

    Thanks, I've also been looking at some larger, older SVS tube subs on audiogon. Some need separate amplification. Do you think I'd be better off buying a new PB10-ISD or a used SVS tube sub?

    It is better to save your money and get a better product,I saved up for a Velodyne DPS-10 and when I was ready to buy it I found it at half price.so take your time and get something good. Lou

    Hi Joe! I like the SVS. I picked mine up at the factory in Youngstown, Ohio. Nice people, great service. Send them a sketch of your room and they will make a recommendation and not oversell you. They also have some B-stock around.

    I know its tough to hear because you may want it "NOW" but as you can see from the posts, better to wait a little longer and get what will do the job the way it should be done. The sub can totally change how you look at your HT. Don't skimp, shop for deals instead.

    Well, I couldn't wait too long. I ended up purchasing a pair of 20-39CS's from the Gon for $515, shipped to my door. One is for sale, but I had to buy two to get the price. I can't really imagine what two would sound like. Anyway, I appreciate all the advice. Thanks again.
