LSi F/X Purchase from crutchfield
I am thinking about finishing my home theater upgrade by replacing my fxi3 with LSi F/X. Crutchfield currenty has a free sub offer with it for a few more days, but i dont really need a sub. I could sell it, but would rather wait not have to deal with that. Does anyone know how often these go on sale? I sales advisor on crutchfield told me they hardly ever do, but im not so sure about that.
Oh yea, also anyone reccomend any mounting brackets for them? I was thinking these look kinda nice...

What type of front speakers and center channel do you have?HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Why do you need mounting brackets? They are designed with keyhole mounts on the back and it is as simple as finding a stud (or using wall anchors) and inserting 2 mounting screws.
Crutchfield almost never discounts Polk speakers. The only time is if a line is being discontinued. Look for "scratch and dent" for a price break. There is rarely anything wrong with S&D, but may be a return item. (Crutchfield has a very liberal return policy)."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Agreed on mounting brackets not being necessary. The speakers are designed to mount flush to a wall. Because of their size and weight, they have two keyhole slots each. I have mine mounted on drywall using anchor bolts. Crutchfield may offer you $200 off on something else if you call them and tell them you already have a sub. Polk sales seem to come around once a quarter or so. I only remember the LSi's going on sale once in the last few years, and that was right after they had to increase their prices for the whole line. So, the sale was really just going back to old pricing for a few weeks.

when i bought my lsi9s, and lsic, i think they were about $100 to $200 off. I probably wouldn't have bought them when i did if they weren't on sale. I guess i got lucky on that... I called them up and asked if i could negotiated on the deal, but was told that the offer was made through polk and was out of their control. Anyway i guess a free sub is better than nothing. I was thinking about mounting brackets just to tilt them down a bit so that the tweeter more notiable. Mabee ill give it a try without them and see how they sound first.Speakers: LSi9 x 2, LSic, LSiFX x 2, Velodyne HGS-15

YEah Id say your best option is just get the sub if they wont just credit you 200. You can ebay it for about 160 plus Im sure some store will give you 200+tax store credit for a "return" without a receipt.-Stopher

No need to do this. Install them properly and calibrate the entire system with an SPL Meter and your done. Keep in mind that the speakers should disappear once your system is properly setup. The entire surround sound stage should move around you seamlessly. Having a speaker create an unnatural (RE: Over-emphasized) sound due to improper placement or set up will be very distracting.I was thinking about mounting brackets just to tilt them down a bit so that the tweeter more notiable. -

Thank you Frank. I recall we had a rather heated debate on this very topic a couple of years ago. It seems to me you would have to lie to "some store" (ie; it was a gift from here, I can't find my receipt) to get them to give you a store credit. I've heard all of the rationalizations...they will just resell it, they aren't out anything, I shoulda' been able to get a discount instead, it's Polk's pricing, etc...Frank Z wrote:WTF? Last summer I purchased 4ea. RTi4 speakers and my CSi3 center from Crutchfield. At that time Polk had a factory sale on the entire Rti line as well as their Lsi line, at approx. 10% off list. If I recall correctly, they also had a free sub or $200 off any of their subs offer in Dec 04 with a mininum purchase. If they follow the same pattern this year, I will upgrade all my speakers to the LSi's. Of course the way my luck usually runs the list $ will increase by then! -

Im not gonna spin this. I havent done it. It is wrong. But the guy is asking for options and I gave him one. If you wanna debate morality thats another thing. But (and this isnt a spin) I do differentiate between being dishonest with an individual buyer (which I would NEVER advocate) and a huge corporation. All the drones take home the same paycheck and the higher ups dont give an S, they'll drive home in their BMW's and never know. Yes both are wrong, but there ARE shades of grey, and this one is pretty white IMO. Please dont make this a personal or flaming thing, just my opinion and this forum is here to share opinions and let people decide.-Stopher

Giving him options.....? Someone is broke.... I recommend: Get a job or steal some cash. I'm just giving him options.

The "Drones" or "Higher Ups" aren't the issue and never will be. The issue here is honesty and integrity.StopherJJ1980 wrote:Im not gonna spin this. .... All the drones take home the same paycheck and the higher ups dont give an S, they'll drive home in their BMW's and never know.
