I think anything older than the old Stingray Corvettes are just ugly. This one is a step in the right direction but... not enough ofa step. Just boring-looking cars.

I've always been a preacher of driving beaters and putting your money somewhere else. The ONLY car I would ever consider purchasing that's over $25,000 is a Corvette. My father has been employed by GM for 35 years so I do have the GM blood, but man oh man, would I love a Vette!

even though the z06 would rape the hell outta the NSX, I still keep coming back to this car as my dream machine. If $ were not an issue this would STILL be the sportscar I would buy. Sorry. :D

I get from point A to B in probably more luxury than 99% of people due to installing a sick audio system in it. If I couldn't sell it, and someone offered me a brand new BMW in place of my Alero with the sound system I would honestly pass.

I personally don't really like the looks of the car. I hate the headlights and the back window looks like an RX8 copy... other than that it's not too bad. A vette is a good sportscar for the money but if I was spending that money I'd buy something different. (probably a bmw ;) )

I agree about the RX8... that was my first impression as well. Later I saw the NSX, and in the pic aahavel posted above I thought Z300...

Bottom line to me is if I see that many cars in it, it's not distintive.

Only Vette I've ever wanted is the '64.1... the StringRay with the fixed dual headlights.

My first car was a Corvette. I love 'em, so it's difficult for me to be objective about them. That's the type of car the 'Vette is though: If you're the type of person who looks at cars rationally and objectively, then it's not the car for you. You have to be a little bit crazy or stupid: One or the other.

My first one was a '74 that was, in most respects, a piece of junk. I loved that car, though, and wish I had it back. Had an honest 235,000 miles on it -- engine and tranny were rebuilt-- when I sold it, 85K of which I put on it myself. It was one of those cars that not just anybody could jump in and drive. You had to learn all the tricks and quirks :) I've currently got an '88 model, which is better in most respects, but it's still a Corvette, with all the good and bad that implies.

I have to say I'm not crazy about the C6 bodystyle. It does look a bit like some other cars and the exposed headlights don't do anything for me. Hard to argue with it from a performance aspect, however, especially the Z06. I think the quality has gotten reasonable, too. Too bad the price has gone up so much in the last 5-6 years. I'm wondering how long it will be before GM talks about killing it again.

    But, yeah, I'd take one!

    Jason

    Bruce,
64.1 Sting Ray with fixed headlights? You've got me confused there. You must be talking about a '62 model. The back end looked like the 63 Sting Ray, but the front end retained the 4 round headlamp look, like the 59-61 models? Here's one.

the C6 is the only one i've ever liked.

The c5 was too bulky, it's fit and finish were poor.
The c4s and before- just plain ugly imo, however for some reason i did like the 411hp ZR1.

Wow, I had no idea the Alero was that cheap! I definitely like the Alero and Aurora. Both are good looking cars I wouldn't object to driving.

    jason,
You've correct, the '62 is the one...

Got it in my head a long time ago that '64 saw a split production year with the 2nd half seeing the addition of the flip over headlights.

For sure that's not the last bit of misinformation floating around in there with the flotsom and jetsom... just the most recent to surface.

What I would do for a new Z06.... Personally, I think the RX8 ripped off the corvette look-the rear window looks alot like the C5s. I love the look of it, while it may not seem awe inspiring-it is intimidating and that is a good thing :)

I think I'd just buy one of each year, if I had the money and a place to put 'em  You know, I did make that "crazy-or-stupid" remark above...

Looks-wise, the chrome-bumper sharks-- '68-'72 -- are my favorites, followed closely by the '63-'67 Sting Rays, especially the coupes with the boat-tail backs. Bill Mitchell at his best. Now those were distinctive cars. Nowadays everybody just copies somebody else.

I drove a '68 w/ the blue print 427 and three deuces... What an effin' beast. Style-wise I'll stick to the '62.

Funny, but about the only vintage Chevy I prefer to the '62 Vette is the '64 Impala SS. A HS buddy had a Maroon one... 327 4-bbl... 4 spd... Convertable... Black interior.
    I loved that car.

26-28 mpg is what I average in my '98 Vette with about 60/40 mix of highway/in-town. With the engine only turning 1300 rpm at 60 mph in sixth gear, it's easy to see why! :)

I'm just now noticing that the two Z06's you've posted pics of aren't the same. I'm assuming the second one is a pre-production concept version, as the fog lights, shape of the lower air dam, and the side air intakes in front of the rear wheels are different than on the first one, which looks just like the production Z06. The red one also has a rear spoiler molded into the rear deck, and the hoods are different. I must admit that overall I like the first one better.
