Absurd ain't it? The game glorifies every bad th ing you can do, INCLUDING killing anyone and everyone, beating up hookers, stealing anything, doing drugs, SELLING drugs... but they show two people gettin it on and suddenly the morality police step up.

Shows what hypocrites people, especially Congressfolks (hear that Hilary?) are.

actually this is a Republican issue because it falls under the umbrella of family values- a well known Conservative stronghold. Hillary never started this inquiry- she's merely following the Republicans' lead on it. Call it political opportunism, call it whatever. But to single out Hillary Clinton is missing the entire point.

i'm not sure why they're all of a sudden getting their panties up in a bunch over a video game when there's actual issues to worry about... w00t for free speech...

and it's interesting to note that 2 Republicans voted against the motion to investigate Rockstar (the allegation is that they deliberately misled the ESRB during the rating process)... and 21 democrats voted against...

i do suppose we have to be happy that they wasted only half an hour voting on this...

(thomas.loc.gov is a great resource for doing fact-checking on votes and the like...)

Who cares. You have to CHOOSE to download the patch to access the content. Its not shoved in your face.

Besides, no one under 17 can play it, right? :)

    Big deal.

Wouldn't that make her one of the bigger hypocrites? She's latching on a cause that the Religious Right is so insane about, a group she constantly **** about. At least they're sticking to their guns, she's just jumping on a publicity bandwagon. She attached her name to this, on purpose, to get some press for her presidnetail run. She is running the show, and her fat mouth, about it, so I will single her out until she shuts up or someone starts speaking louder.

I'm angry about the issue, not her, but it's hard to resist bashing that socialist cow when she gives me the chance.

probably a lot... as a recreational programmer, i know that a LOT of stuff gets left in that really shouldn't...

but like shizelbs said, you have to hack the game to get at the content, so how could it possibly be rockstar's responsibility? that's like blaming the CIA for having illegal information, just because some hacker managed to scarf some of it...

I'm offended that she got offended to be honest.

My step bro is 13, however he played GTA back when he was 10 years old. He also plays a ton of war games. My step bro has a pretty nice grip on reality when it comes to stuff like this. However, I don't think he should be playing the game. I think certain ages should play certain things. For me, I think killing aliens is completely acceptable. If you can find an alien to kill on the side of the road in real life - then its probally a good thing you did kill it.

Now, I wouldnt have a problem with this woman sueing Rockstar if she hadn't bought her 14 year old son a 17 year old and up game. Not to mention if she actually cared enough to find out what the game was about. I mean Grand Theft Auto - what could this be about? Stealing cars?? Oh wait... Grand... THEFT Auto - yep, stealing cars.

I dont understand how people would want their kids to be subjected to stealing and killing - innocent people and cops at that matter - but as soon as a sex scene is discovered, the flag goes up. Give me a break...

I'm getting so tired of people with their dick in their hand, do they REALLY not pay attention to the big picture of something. GTA has a sex scene in it, SO EFFING WHAT? Have you even played the game and saw what else is in it? I mean cmon' grandmaw!

i know about that story-and it's very interesting. It's very hard to pinpoint the cause of these problems- be it what's in our culture and readily available to our youth to the disintegration of the typical American Family over the past 3decades. I think maybe it's a combination of many things, but I do agree that **** does not belong in video games; reason alone that it has nothing to do with the plot and overall synopsis of the game itself. It's merely there for the shock value and the WOW factor. Stealing cars, shooting cops, now that's a different story- I can see why that's part of the game because it's the synopsis on which the game is based on and is advertised for in the first place. I mean given a choice who wants to rub one out watching a videogame? It's totally absurd.

Again though, I don't blame Hillary for clamoring on an issue that normally belongs to Republicans. That's smart politics- anyway you look at it. Look at what Bill Frist did regarding the Stem Cell issue not too long ago- and right in the face of President Bush nonetheless. You can tell he's got a hard-on for the Oval Office in 2008 just like Hillary. Because they're both moving away from their hardcore constituents and are trying to appease moderates/the deciding voter bases. Again- smart politics.

I'm by no means a fan of the religious right, those idiots on Air America, or censorship in general, but sometimes you just got to call a spade a spade. Anyway thanks for reading.

The argument "you can show all kinds of violence on tv and its ok but you cant show sex" is not really accurate. Its not the sex that usually has people so worked up, but how graphic it is.

You can show a sex scene on NYPD Blue or LA Law with no nudity and just rolling around under the sheets and its ok. You can show a guy shoot another guy and its ok.

You CANT show hot anal action with all the graphic glory. You CANT show someone being sawed in half with a chainsaw and their intestines falling out.

And AA, this type of censorship is usually a Democrat issue. Remember the PMRC? Tipper Gore? Youve got labeling and all that crap because of Dem's.

Liberals are usually the ones that try to get things banned they dont like. Liberals dont like SUV's so theyre trying to ban them. Liberals dont like smoking so theyre trying to ban it. Liberals dont like mountain bikers and 4-wheelers so theyre trying to outlaw it. Liberals dont like religion so theyre trying to get rid of it.

Dont get me wrong, there are plenty of GOP'ers guilty as well, but generally when you hear about somebody trying to get something silenced or closed down because its "offensive", its usually a liberal.

    sorry i respectively disagree MacLeod.

You're confusing Liberals with Wacko extreme lefties. Two totally different sets of constituents. Just like the average Republican doesn't hold the same values as a Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity.

"Liberals are usually the ones that try to get things banned they dont like. Liberals dont like SUV's so theyre trying to ban them. Liberals dont like smoking so theyre trying to ban it. Liberals dont like mountain bikers and 4-wheelers so theyre trying to outlaw it. Liberals dont like religion so theyre trying to get rid of it."

MacLeod that's absolutely absurd with all due respect. That's like me saying most Republicans who live in the south are white, nascar loving, trailer park, homphobe racists trash; or most Republicans who go to church every Sunday think all Muslims are bad and should be shipped overseas or put in jail. Of course that's not true- FAR from it.

The problem with your reasoning MacLeod is that you're generalizing an entire set of Americans soley based on what side of the political aisle they stand on and what constituency they represent and quite frankly I take offense to it. Most people in this country are fairly moderate- whether they call themselves a Democrat or Republican is irrelevant. But it's the agitators in the mainstream media and quotes above that continue to try to transform this into something that's not there in order for political gain. Face it: shades of grey/moderates? That's boring. It's boring for papers. It's boring for ratings. BUT if we can somehow turn this into an all out war between the two EXTREME sides of the political spectrum, well then it's every social and political commentators wetdream. (see Air America and FOX News)

I am sick to death of "Liberals are good and Conservatives are bad" or vice versa. It's ****, it's misinformed and has no proper merit. It's based on emotion, not clear-headed thinking and is almost always geared toward hot button issues. It's a major reason why this country is so divided today and why hardly anything gets accomplished anymore on capital hill unless it comes in the form of a "I scratch your back- you scratch mine" mantra.

sorry for the political outburst MacLeod and to all fellow Polkies- i know that's not allowed on here. I'm just simply defending my post. :)

First of all, Limbaugh and Hannity are textbook conservatives. They stand for everything the conservative party believes in.

Its pretty much illegal to smoke anywhere these days. Especially in New York and California, 2 liberal strongholds and even in Georgia theyre trying to make illegal to smoke anywhere.

The environmental wackos have managed to get 4 wheelers banned from oodles of public parks. We wouldnt want those rocks getting damaged.

The ACLU, a liberal bastion, fights tooth and nail to get anything religious taken out of public life and thanks to activist judges, have succeeded a lot.

These arent things I made up or some stereotype, these are things liberals are doing right now and a bunch of em! Now if I said liberals were a bunch of pot smoking, flag burning hippies then that would be a broad sweeping generalization and would be wrong.

Im generalizing liberals by what they belive and what they do. Just like saying conservatives are always trying to get taxes lowered, or religious people are always praying to God or athletes are always trying to play sports. These things are generalizations but they are true. Besides, I said liberals are USUALLY the ones responsible for this and I also said some so called conservatives have been as well, i.e. John McCain.

Moderates? Moderates are just people that dont know what they believe. Youre either pro life or pro choice. Youre either pro death penalty or against it. Youre either for a strong military or against it. Youre either for welfare spending or against it. There isnt that much gray. Thats one thing I respect in liberals. They have core beliefs and values and will fight for them.

And politics is how this country's government operates. Groups from both sides fight it out and usually come to an amicable arrangement. You shouldnt be afraid of strong debate, its how this system works. Now I am with you on all the hate and rage out there these days. That slimy traitor michale moore, al franken and this ditz camped out at Bush's ranch in Crawford are beyond the scope and have no part in this system. But a brisk debate over policy is how we get things done.

I am a proud conservative and have been for years. There is nothing wrong with political lables. There is nothing wrong with subscribing to an ideaolgy. It doesnt mean youre close minded or brainwashed. It means youve thought out your position based on wisdom and experience and your core beliefs and principals and you believe in it. And its not about good or bad. I believe liberals to be wrong, thats all, not evil. I know they have the best intentions (except for the anit American kook left wing) I just think their methodology is wrong as Im sure they do about conservatives but this system works by both sides battling it out in the arena of ideas.

So get over it you commie, pinko, panty waist, pot smoking hippy! :p:D
