CSi40 Question

Can anybody offer any suggestions on what kind of corner shelving unit I can build (perhaps in a kit, which might be best) that I can buy to rest my CSi40 on? I need to make sure such corner shelving will withstand the weight of this speaker.

Also, can anyone comment on whether it makes any "sound" difference (post calibration of course) to place the center channel on it's side?

Thanks in advance.

Why don't you just stick it intop of your TV? And yes ti would make a difference to put it on its side. The csi40 has a cascading crossover to make it sound just as good to off axis listeners as it does to on axis listeners. Putting it on it's side kinda ruins that whole effect. Center channels are designed to be long, I'd leave it that way.

I wouldn't be able to put it on top of the big screen TV I plan on purchasing, even with a TV "shelf" device (like Sano makes), as the top of the TV is only about 1" wide and angled downward - that's why I need a corner shelf. The reason I was asking about putting the center channel on its side was for shelf space saving reasons.

So, it looks like corner shelving wide enough to hold the CSi40 on its side, at this point. Any other comments/suggestions/ideas welcome.

Can you use a center channel speaker stand instead?

Not an option using my current entertainment center, which currently encloses everything very well, but has no additional shelf space for the center speaker. Putting a stand in front of the entertainment center with the center on it would look somewhat cheesy, IMO, and would prevent me from opening the one glass door for component access.

Placing a couple of horizontal supports on the walls with a shelf on top of them should be more than enough to hold the speaker (make sure you hit the studs). I would also use plywood with a cap on the front edge of a hardwood (and thicker than the ply) to prevent it from bending.

Any pictures? I can't picture what you are trying to acomplish. A shelf on the corner with the speaker laying properly is going to be pretty wide. I love making designing & making crap (I just re-did my entertainment room. All custom stuff).

Good news. Just found the perfect solution - a black, wall-mountable/swivable TV shelf at Lowes for about $65 - will support/position the CSi40 nicely.
