I broke one of my Svetlana KT-88 tubes and sold the remaining cheaply. Now, what should I try next???

Here are some I'm looking at.

Edit: I'll be using them in a Jolida 502A with the SDA-SRS speakers, Modulus 3a preamp and Gyro-Dec upgraded to Orbe (Gorbe) turntable.

Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... :D

Try the Teslas. I have no idea how they'll sound with our Jolida, so that's why you should try them.:p

I was thinking of the Tung Sol 6550 also. I'm unsure what the overall difference between a KT-88 vs a 6550.

I think Troy just ordered a batch of the Tung-Sol for his MV75.

Just going for new stuff, I'd stick with Sovtek or JJ. Which amp are these in Chuck?

    Cheers,
    Russ

(btw, tubes showed today, guess I need to pay for em eh?)
Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

The JJ looks very nice with the metal base. People at the asylum are raving about the Tung Sol reissues from New Sensor and I've heard great things about Shuguang. Check the archives on audioasylum.

The Tung Sol re-issues are looking pretty interesting. I wonder if blowing the one tube on my amp could have messed up anything? It blew the fuse.

I went ahead and ordered a quad of the Tung Sol 6550's.

Good price at $140, no tax and free shipping!

Now, I wonder what 12AX7's and 12AT7's would work the best with them?

Sweet, enjoy the new tubes Madmax. If you want some matching X7, they also have Tung Sol reissues... http://www.thetubestore.com/tungsol12ax7.html Never heard it but my favorite is the Sovtek 12AX7LPS and SED for really warm sound.

Never used T7 before but the Mullard is pretty cheap... http://www.thetubestore.com/mul12atcv.html

Did you check under the chassis to see if there's any burnt marks or anything? Hopefully it was just a bad tube.

Right now I'm not sure what is in it. I've been swapping amps and pre-tubes so much I lost track. Several mullards, telefunkens, brimars, EH, sovtec, etc.

I think I'll start by swapping in one after another until I hear some combo I like.

Previously I would get the CD sounding great and the TT would be off and vice versa. This time I'm going strictly TT. The CD will be there (maybe) but not the critical path.
