amazing at how this movie has stood the test of time.
The commentary track is by far the best i've ever heard. Dick Donner is a natural at commentary.
and STILL my favorite 5.1 mix.
(edit) well my favorite Dolby mix anyhow.
I wonder when they'll give SUperman II "the treatment"?
so many extra scenes they didn't put in the DVD out today.

I bought the Superman box set. I wonder if the first movie in that got "the treatment"?
Regardless, the first one was great. Gene Hackman especially was brilliant (as usual in all his roles) as Lex Luthor. -
the 1st movie was remastered (video and audio)
the other 3 were just original transfers that reflect their dates of release. Needless to say the 2nd one didn't hold up to well. =( -

See? This is especially important in this onslaught of crappy comic book movies from the new Batman to this FANTASTIC FOUR gar-BOGGE!. SUPERMAN is the only comic hero film worth your time. Thanks for reminding everyone, aaharvel.
Seen this nonsense with the FANTASTIC FOUR? This BS Ben Grimm guy in a rubber suit looking like a pipsqueak? What a goof. Seen The Thing in comics? He's HUGE! He's like The Hulk, man! And you got this little guy in a pipsqueak rubber suit? CRAPOLA!
It's CLOBBERIN TIME! Clobber these crappy movies!

Yo, what's up dude. Seen your King Kong posts and I gotta agree- Hollywood has lost it's magic thanks to CGI technology.
You shouldn't call something a "special effect" if it's in every other frame of film. Not exactly "special" now is it?
Keep preaching brother. Us real movie buffs know Hollywoods golden age died out after the 80's.
(edit) WITH exceptions like Silence Of The Lambs, American Beauty, & Shawshank. -
Whatever happened to that other dude who had a TV show who was VERY similar to Supes in his powers, Shazam maybe?

I remember him well. BKA Captain Marvel. That kid would yell SHAZAM!, and a bolt of lightning would change him into Captain Marvel. He wore a red suit with a yellow lightning bolt on the chest, and had powers similar to Superman. You dug up an oldie but goodie, Marker.Main Set-up: 55" 120 hz Samsung LN55B650, Onkyo TX-SR806, Emotiva XPA-5, Emotiva XPA-2, PS3 Slim, Sony BDP-S560, Apple TV (160g), Panamax M5300-PM, Polk Audio CSi5, RTi10's, FXi3's, RTi4's, and SVS PB12 Plus

Now this is one thing I like about F4, no CGI Thing. An actual guy in a suit, just like the days of old.
Remember models? Bests this CGI stuff hands down. Go back to the original Star Wars and compare those models to the latest Star Wars CGI cartoon stuff. Models look so much more real.
Computers have become the cheap scape goat for special effects.
Sure, some things cannot be done w/o computers but they should be used as a last ditch effort...only, NOT as the forefront of film making.If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
Captian Marverl! That's it!
What all superheroes can fly? Superman/Supergirl/Superboy and the Superdog (Xero or whatever his name was), Captian Marvel, the Human Torch, and that's all I can think of offhand. Any others? -
That list is endless. You are only mentioning mostly DC Comics heroes. Marvel Comics has a whole slew of heroes that fly.
Just to name a few:
Thor (my favorite)
Sub-Mariner
Iron Man
Silver Surfer
Storm
Rogue
Wasp

Wasn't Captian Marvel actually with DC comics? If so, how ironic.

It occured to me, plots from 2 different Superman movies were used in other movies later. The San Andreas fault line scheme from Sperman I was later used in James Bond's A View To A Kill, and the half cent sheme in Superman III was later used in Office Space.

Haha! I REMEMBER the half cent scheme with Richard Pryor and Office Space.! That was hilarious.
And on a side note I thought Superman III wasn't too bad- well at least with the whole split personality thing.
Maybe I should bone up on old James Bond movies though.
and I'm wondering if WarnerBros. will ever put out a special edition of Superman II. I know there's legal ramifications that are in the way- but still that would be a great release.
