What's wrong with Ben Stiller these days???

Is it just me, or do all his new movies suck total ****? Seriously. I was always a huge fan. Zoolander is one of my favorite comedies. Mystery Men is amazing yet never got the credit it deserved. Something About Mary, come on... comedy! Meet the Parents was pretty good but a lil retarded at parts. I haven't seen the new one yet so I have no comment there.

Now all his movies are getting really bad. I just wasted a lil over an hour watching Envy which stunned the hell out of me. How do you take Stiller (who's usually hilarious), add Jack Black and put them into a storyline about poo and not get greatness? That movie was so painful, I almost shed a tear. Starsky & Hutch... just watched that a few days ago and figured the duo from Zoolander could be great again. WRONG! I laughed during the prison scene and the "Be a dragon!" Other than that, it didn't even seem to try and be funny. Dodgeball. I bought it blind on a bunch of people's recommendations. Waste of money. I have considered throwing it out the sunroof on the highway some night but can't bring myself look at it. Along Came Polly... Jennifer made it fun to watch but it just didn't go anywhere. Worthless as the rest. Royal Tenenbaums isn't even worth talking about more than I have just said.

Is it just me or is he really getting bad? It's sickening to me.

Nope, its not just you. I thought Zoolander sucked the biggest balls of all time, but I can understand why others would enjoy it. You make a strong point about Envy. It takes one completely untalented director to not make that movie hilarious. Seriously, just point a camera at Jack Black and produce it later.

I think Ben Stiller just got lucky with some roles. Something About Mary was just a hilarious movie. He was great in Zoolander because that was the role he was born to play. He seems to be able to do two things and that's it - out of control goofy guy (Zoolander), or shy awkward everyman (Something About Mary, Envy, Polly, Parents). I think he's just worn out his welcome with his limited acting skills and the same schtick is just getting old. There's only so many times you can watch a goon like that play the same role.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

exactly why Will Farrell is getting on my nerves as well. He's completely typecast.

But then when an actor like vin diesel plays a kindergarten cop type movie, Its so unbeleivable because your used to the tough guy role.. people are meant to do certain roles.. go far from that and its unbelievable.. They just pop to many of the same type movie out when an actors hot and it gets boreing...

I think you got Vin Diesel confused with a real actor.... :D

But you are right, obviously some actors have to stick within their... realm of experience, or it's not even believeable.

I'm not a Ben Stiller fan...and I hated Mystery Men and never watched Zoolander, didn't particularly care for Something about mary.

I thought Starsky & Hutch wazoK and loved Dodgeball.

Toxis, if you have Dodgeball that much, you should offer your copy up for a karma...I know there are bunches of people here who would love to have it...
