Maybe just start with a Polk soundbar and go from there.

more troll crap. wtf is your problem? is this how you people treat all new members?

I was being serious. You answered your own question. Monitor 7's or RTA 12B. In the interim, enjoy one of Polk's latest.

It's been a number of years since I heard RTA 12's not sure which model B,C. They sounded fantastic as they had crossovers done.
7Bs with Peerless sound Excellent as well, not as dynamic as dual mids, bit just as clear on imaging.

The absolute best Monitor Ive laid ears on are 7C's with RDO198's and extensive mods.
That's all I can add and hope that helps in your decision.

thanks. i am not concerned at all about clarity or imaging. i'm more interested in the general tonal balance of the speaker... warm and rich.

Monitor 10s with Peerless tweeters got me hooked on Polk audio speakers years ago. B)

    Warm and rich!

I like classic rock mostly, but I will enjoy most music except for rap.

I'm 68 and don't need cross-over upgrades due to my hearing, but I sure enjoy music.

Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

What's your age? What genre of music do you like most?

Do you relax with music? Do you rock out over 85dbs?

I sold a 25-year-old guy some Infinity surround towers. He called me back an hour later and said they aren't what he expected. When he returned, I asked what he had before. He said twin 15" in each speaker. Well, twin 6"ers won't do what he wanted. He should've known that. At least he didn't blow the little towers' woofers. :p

A few of us are elderly and have a TON of experience. We just need more "background" info.

We all mean well, especially when it comes to Polk Audio speakers. ;)

Is this what AI chat bots have turned into? Argumentative trolls who pose as newcomers asking for advice they clearly don't want to accept and subsequently argue with the responses? Otherwise, this person is a classic d-bag.

    Well THAT’S a take…

I like to build hot rods.

I don't care about top speed or acceleration or handling or braking or cruising or doing burnouts.

I just like to let them idle so I can stand behind them and sniff the exhaust.

I was in no way being arrogant. I simply asked relevant questions.
As for a "veteran audiophile" well I have my reservation about that.
You should look for the Monitor 12, it's right up your alley

    Good day!

why would you have reservations? you have little to zero info about me. do you often form opinions about people you don't know? feel free not to answer that. i don't really care.

We have zero information about your gear either, so how is it that you expect us to help? As a "professional Audiophile", Why is it that you are even looking at 40 year old speakers? You are either trying to jerk us on April Fools.. Wait, that's it! Who are you really?

Pick a chick cause she's warm and rich, not speakers.

    Splendid analogy.
