Sorry to hear you had a bad experience.
Having owned a brick and mortar business most don't realize the costs that are involved.
They have to buy at half the price they think a piece can sell to just cover the costs to keep the doors open, not including tryi ng to make a profit.
With 50 employees, business insurance, rent, operating expenses etc I think they do a good job and provide a heck of a service to those wanting to sell their used gear.
I sold my Krell KAV-1500 amp and got a fair price thru their consignment program.
Yea it sucks but, what's the price on convenience? -
Don't forget on the back end they provide a warranty and have to service if something goes wrong right after they sell it.

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. A friend of mine used to own a bicycle shop, and he always said, "I have to make money off my friends, since my enemies don't buy from me.""This may not matter to you, but it does to me for various reasons, many of them illogical or irrational, but the vinyl hobby is not really logical or rational..." - member on Vinyl Engine

I've had several transactions buying and selling. No issues here.

He started a thread on Audiogon about The Music Room also. He received the same type of comments there also.
