How is it to be used? I bought one new in 2000, had a TRD supercharger installed and had it for 20

years until the frame was beyond repair. This new generation 4Runner left me completely

underwhelmed. It didn't have the substantial truck like feel my old 4Runner had. It was fun to drive,

the turbo four is pretty snappy, but to me, felt more like a crossover SUV, not what I was looking for.

I darn near leased one (maybe it'll grow on me) because I wanted to love owning this as much as my

old one. I'm sure their off road capability is just as good so I guess she'll have to test drive one

herself. Take a look at the Trail Hunter in the Everest color. I had first rights refusal on one and ended

up getting a Tundra TRD Pro.

TFLCar on YouTube has had some extended review time with the new 4Runner. I'm sure it is a fine vehicle, but I doubt the turbo-4 will last 300k miles or more like the old V6 did.

Those v6 Toyota engines run forever

TRD Pro only comes with the turbo hybrid engine...and a steep price. Only Platinum and Limited trims get real leather seating surfaces. Even Toyota has problems in the first year or two of new production but they usually fix problems in production as they show up. May be worth it to wait another year. I have heard of transmission gremlins and other quality problems in early units of the Tacoma coming out of Mexico.

I think all the 4Runners are still made in Japan?

The 4.0L V6 proved to be reliable because it was in production for so long almost all the design and production problems were dealt with over time.

I would go for the GX 460 after looking at the new 4Runners. The plain interior coupled with that slightly buzzy 4cyl just doesn't make it worthy of it's price tag IMHO. Body on frame SUV from Toyota, I would look at the Lexus twin, or a Sequoia if you want a larger platform.

I got a lightly used 5th Gen back in October. I waited for the details on the new ones to come out, and I wasn’t drawn into the new looks as much, and I was very turned off by the idea of a turbo 4 in that size of vehicle. My wife has a 2016 and I now have a 2021. I would make that choice again over this new 6th gen option.

I'm turned off by ALL turbos. They don't last as long, especially on smaller engines. Wears the engine and turbo with the added stress. Look at the failures of GM and Ford turbo engines. I'm a Toyota fan, and it disappointed me to see them do it too.

At least most of their cars are Hybrids now, and can be had without a turbo. So far...

I was also facing the same a couple of months ago although it was for a Tacoma. Drove the new 4th gen with turbo 4 and was not impressed. Also all the digital controls were against my love of the Tacoma.

Decided to go with a 2023 low miles V6.

    Take two!!

The wife and I pulled the trigger on a Supersonic Red 2025 TRD Sport Premium, so far we are loving it, I have already Tinted the Windows with Ceramic Tint, Clear Bra and had the vehicle Ceramic Coated.

I also had to have the Black Wheels from the TRD Pro wrapped them in TOYO Rubber, and since the offset is a little different on the TRD Pro I added the Wider Mud Flaps from the Pro as well.. 😎

I can’t leave anything alone.. LOL!!

Hopefully it stays being a great vehicle for many years..

As for the Turbo 4, so far I am digging it, I still have my 2014 Tacoma OffRoad, and this T4 has much better pick up than the 6 in the Tacoma. This 4R will smoke my Tacoma OR.

Love that color. I was looking at a Camry in that color, I wondered if it might be too bright and attract attention to my speed, or any other error while driving around... :/

Sister in law has a '24 V6 in Pearl white, which looks great too.

    B) Love the way it looks under the light at night.. The ceramic window tint works great when it’s in the sun all day, definitely keeps the cab cooler..
