Maggies (1.7i) in need of a new home.

Well the time has come to bode those bad boys goodbye. I will definitely miss them!
On my list for potential replacements (for a combo HT/2 channel system). I can possibly stretch my budget to 5K but I'd rather not if at all possible.

Not sure yet if I will trade the Maggies in or just sell them outright (no shipping). Pricing not yet determined if selling outright. Not really in too much of a hurry here.

Martin Logan: Motion XT F100 / F200 / ElectroMotion ESL / ESL X all floorstanders
Polk: R600 /R700 / L600 all floorstanders

I can pretty much listen to them all in dealers showrooms in the PA/NJ area.

Any other recommendations to put on my list please do so.

The SVS Ultra Evolution Pinnacle have my attention. The piano gloss white finish is something different. Note the extra drivers on the rear of the cabinets. Should produce pretty solid and controlled bass for home theater since the woofers are in their own enclosures internally up high and down low.

It's not the type of speaker I'd get for a two channel only speaker.

    Golden Ear. ;)

Looks like the Triton One R is discontinued now, as is the Triton Reference. I guess the T66 is the top of their line now. Maybe some of the discontinued models can be bought at a discount.

I just listened to my Triton Ones again. :D

For a couple of weeks lately, the B&W CM10s have sounded outstanding playing 6 YELLO CDs. After hearing the 6 CDs, I thought, how would they sound through the NAD receiver and the Triton Ones?

    :o

The old saying goes...You can't miss what you haven't heard.

Well, I just played the Triton Ones again, and I'm blown away AGAIN.

I now need to hear these Yello CDs through the Polk SDA-SRS2s asap.

Yes indeed GoldenEar is on my list. They have a smaller version of the T66 coming out shortly, the T44.

    Hi Phil,
I haven't left the brand so I don't have a lot of experience with other speakers. But, I'm telling you the Polk Legend L600 has far exceeded my expectations. So make sure you don't discount their potential against higher priced speakers.

I can't think of a better 2ch/HT speaker (based on research I've read). The only problem is if you wait too long they may no longer be available.

    Just my .02c

    Hi Brock,

I actually wanted to take a look at the L700 because I know you are extremely pleased with them & they exceeded your expectations.
I can't see to find them listed now. They have to L600 & L800 but no L700. Maybe it's too late. I wonder if they are coming out with a new line & are letting the remaining stock run out.

There is an R700 but not an L700. Only L600 and L800 towers.

The L800 is a great speaker, just saying. Especially if it's around 3k a pair

Way too big for my space even if I could find a pair at 3k. But they certainly are incredible speakers.

Haven't heard much about your "rebuilt" L600's. How those coming along?

Honestly, not much. I use them as side surrounds.

Starting out with a pair of Martin Logan ESL electrostats to hear how they perform. Just a start to get things underway.

Added into the mix a pair of GoldenEar Triton 7's & JBL HDI 1600 stand mounts. All excellent sounding with distinct musical differences.

I'm really liking the JBL HDI 1600 standmounts. Sent the Lintons back & getting ready to pack up the Triton 7's. The only other speakers I heard that caught my attention were the Totem Bison Twin Towers.

At first I did miss the Maggie's (still have them, haven't put them on the market yet) But I'm ready to move on. I've read a lot on the Harbeth line but I never had the chance to hear them.
Don't know if I want to try anything else the JBL HDI 1600 has really got my attention. I just might stick with them. They do everything right as far as my preferences go.

Gloss black... absolutely gorgeous. JBL really hit the ball out of the park with the HDI lineup. I was thinking about moving up to the HDI 3600 tower but I always preferred bookies with stereo subs (dual REL T/7X) Definitely give them a listen.

Nice! I’ve seen some places blowing them out for cheap because they are presumably discontinued. I’ll keep looking for a good deal.

I’ve been listening to the Quad Revela 1 (in gloss walnut) for the last couple of months. The ribbon tweeter is addictive.

From what I can gather they are discontinuing the walnut & grey oak & keeping the gloss black. There definitely deals to be had for sure.
I almost didn't go for them and I thought they were horn speakers. I never heard horns before but I heard they can be bright...the exact opposite of what I like.
JBL calls it a wave guide (new design along with a new design compression driver). Well let me tell you these puppies are anything but bright. Smooth as silk but full of life & they can play loud & I mean loud without a hint of breaking up. I'm glad I gave them a try.

It sounds like you're really enjoying the Quad Rebels l. Those ribbon tweeters can really bring it!

They somewhat remind me of the HLS series. I ran 6 HLS-610's in my home theater in a 6.2 system. They blew people away. The only downside was the 6.5" drivers had a vinyl like surround. After about 10 yrs. they just disintegrated. Like you Phil, I never found the horn loaded tweeter obnoxious. They were definitely a very dynamic speaker and had great bass for their size.
