Vintage SDA SRS questions

Greetings Gents,

Bought these from original owner about 15 years ago. Didn’t have the drive to really acquire proper amp and select a proper listening room. Since then life’s been busy and these have been inside in a dry heated bedroom.
At this point I’m torn. Do I keep them and upgrade as needed (I’ve heard tweeters and crossovers)? Are parts still available and any idea on budget to do so? When I stored these they sounded beautiful and would guess they still do. I have carver amp and preamp. Don’t remember the output. Seems like 250-300w if I remember correctly. They sang with that little amp but you could tell it was just scratching the surface of their ability.
Guess I’m hopeful I can get some advice.

-what model are these?
-upgrade parts recommendation and approximate budget to upgrade?
-retail price estimate if I did decide to sell?

Attached pics are shown with dust included. Carefully blowing that off now

Thank You.

Original SDA SRS with the SL2000 tweeters, which look like they have seen better days. The proper replacement is the RD0(zero)194-1.

Plenty of crossover upgrade info in here. The cost can be from reasonable to damn expensive.

You can search eBay for what they might sell for. In the current condition of yours the value would be at the bottom end.

Thx F1! Kinda what I was guessing too. I’ll look into upgrade cost. In your opinion is there value in upgrading these based on final results / cost?
What size amp or what is a good recommendation for a decent value amp to bring out the best in these?

Yup. Like classic cars. People will spend year of their time and a tremendous amount of money for restoration and expect to make money on the deal. Do it for the enjoyment and personal satisfaction. Just remember, when you're dead and gone, your kids will trash them then toss them to the curb when they're done with them.

Do not attempt to run these speakers on a Carver amp without first verifying that it is a common ground amp. Many Carver amps are not compatible with the original SRS speakers.

Thx guys! I was more trying to find a typical budget for upgrading tweeters and crossovers if that’s what’s normally done here. I want to keep these and enjoy them.

The tweeters are about $62.00 each. Crossover component costs vary depending on what you choose.

The schematic is posted on the forum, so you can see the cap and resistor values, then go shopping. Do not use Solen, Bennic or Dayton in the high pass circuit.

In my area I have seen a few pair of SRS listed in the $1200-$2000 range. I bought my pair of SRS year for $1000 and they already had the RD0 upgraded tweeters installed.
