Rtia 7 or rtia 5 for the rear

I have a 2 channel system just for music videos with rtia 9 s in the front hooked up to emotiva xpa-2 gen 3 and onkyo avr hooked up to rtia 5 in the rear along with 2 psw 505 up front.Question is I have a chance to buy a new set of 7s off a friend for a good price.Would I benefit better overall sound quality vs the 5s to replace.tia

You'd benefit best by upgrading your subs. Seriously!

F1 makes a valid point. Upgrading your subs would definitely benefit your system. That said, my motto has always been, overkill is highly overrated, and too much is never enough. I run a pair of A9's at wide position and another pair of A9's in the rear. If you want a pair of A7's in the back, go for it!!

And good on you for running a pair of A9's for 2ch. I don't care what anyone says, once properly groomed with set up and room treatments, the A9's make a killer 2ch set up, just ask @ken brydson. I ran A9's for a 2ch set up for years, also powered with an XPA-2, that beast makes some power. I've since upgraded to a beryllium tweeter for 2ch, but no one ever left my place wanting while I had the A9's up front.

I know @F1nut ran A7's in his set up, might still, I'm pretty sure he could tell you that you'd be getting a better speaker than the A5. I digress; you may want to seriously consider a sub upgrade somewhere down the line. You could find a single that would smoke those 505's.

My highly modified RTiA7's are the fronts in my all highly modified RTiA HT rig. No Polk subs here though.

I appreciate the replies and all makes sense.I totally agree with replacing subs and that will come as I bought those when I started the system and I am happy with the sound right now.
Just have the chance to replace the 5s with the 7s at a deal and put the 5s elsewhere or sell. That said would the 7s be better than the 5s with my current setup and nx step I would replace the 2 subs later when I have the 9s and 7s together.Again thx

Rears are generally ambient sound, so I see no benefit to changing your rears. Take that money and buy a new sub or two.

Are they the ones you won at Lou's house when he hosted Polkfest years ago. I still remember that great day...we had a lot of fun.

Indeed they are. They were the impetus for me to build an HT rig/room.

Since you stated this is for music videos a sealed sub would best, so I'll suggest one of the SB versions from SVS. Another good choice would be Rythmik.
