Streaming from an iPhone

My wife likes to stream her tunes using her phone to a bluetooth unit connected to the 2 channel rig . It's OK for background music but I wouldn't use it for a real listening experience. Would there be an improvement using the phone to stream hi rez music or are there sound quality limitations to using the phone?
I know a dedicated streamer is what I need, but in the meantime.............

I doubt it. A cell phone and bluetooth just aren't that good to be wasting $$$ on Hi-Rez music. It really is ok for background music.
Almost every weekend when we are working around the house my GF streams Spotify via her Android phone (bluetooth) through our smart TV hooked via optical to a Marantz integrated w/built in dac through Polk Elite ES20's.
It sounds fine for that. Better than streaming the cable music channels through the same set-up. But no serious listening going on.
I bought one of these for upstairs to stream Qobuz and from the Roon music server. Haven't installed it yet. You'll need a dac.

The reviews are solid and it's at a great price point. Amazon sells them as well.

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. With iPhone you can use Airplay, which streams over WiFi, and I believe that allows for higher quality. From google:
