So on one channel we're using the gold as positive, silver as negative, and on the other it's reversed? That's not confusing at all.
Then we got dual blue wires with seemingly no polarity markings for the surrounds/bookies. Interesting.
I guess technically it doesn't matter if the polarity is reversed, they'll still make sound, but meh. Would be nice to correctly do it positive to positive, negative to negative.

Thank you steve just tried the tape trick and it worked, that's been bugging me for a while!
It's sounding good so far, will probably irder the blue tooth adapter to make it easier m. -
Thanks for pointing that out clip... my eyes aren't the best.
With the blues I did try them each way to see where the sound was clear I noticed if they backwards it's somewhat muffled. I'm not knowledgeable on this stuff so not to sure about the technical aspect or "polarity" reference. Sorry 🤷🏻♀️ -
It just means that on both the back of the receiver and the rear of the speakers, to connect red (positive) to red, black (negative) to black. But it's tricky when the wires aren't clearly labeled, as in this case.
It sounds like you already experimented though and got everything connected properly now. Also no need to apologize, this stuff is difficult to explain in text over the internet. -
Ok gotcha, thanks! 😊

When somebody wires one speaker's polarity backwards, like I have twice in my 67 years, the bass loses sound pressure waves in a room.
This guy explains the reason simply and clearly. Having the Correct Polarity for all speaker wire runs matters.https://youtu.be/eEBG442fX2E

Thanks for the vids, I was looking at the other ones and then they disappeared but I will look into it on YouTube. For now they sound good but I'm going to swap the red & silver around to see if I get a difference since i seen in the pic you sent it said silver to red. I just figured red to red. Most of the bass comes from the S15.

This isn't hard. Connect the + from the receiver to the + on the speaker. After that it'll should be obvious where the other speaker cable goes. It doesn't matter what the color of the cable is as long as it's + to + and - to -.Political Correctness'.........defined

Yamaha's are easy and straight forward. VERY easy learning curve. I Love them.
Look online for the Yamaha HTR-6230 owners' manual that you can look at. IT'S EASY if you read from start to end how this receiver's FUNCTIONS work.
Heck, here you go...

Do you have good speaker wire to work with now? If not, get you some.
