Back Problems

Last October I injured my back at work. MRI showed 3 ruptured disks S1-L5, L5-L4 and L4-L3 or something like that. I've been laid up for over 4 months and today I finally got in to have injections (3ea) at the Orthopedic Surgery. It sucked. And afterwards I was told that if it bothered me that much I should have them put me under. I was like "Wait. That was an option???" Oh yes it was. But no one bothered to tell me.

Word of advice, unless you are into that kinda thing, if you are getting multiple injections, have them put you under.

Dang dude, sorry to hear this, no good. Hope things go well for you!!

I feel very fortunate. One of my old race mechanics reached out to me today and asked me, now that I'm this old, do I feel the highside when I raced up in Canada.

It was a violent highside, the bike went sideways while exiting a corner, snapped back so hard that it ripped the upper and mid fairing clean off the bike. It pitched me so high and far up in the air I thought I was flying back to WA. I landed square on my back knocking the wind out of myself so bad that I thought I was going suffocate.

Wasn't able to sleep in my back for six months. That was back in 1990, haven't had any issues since.

I count my blessings, as you are in the center of my prayers.

I haven't tried yet. I was hoping my back would have been healed by now. Spring Chinook are starting to trickle in and I'm going to go come hell or high water.

I had 7 or 8 injections in total when I was going through my herniated disk issues. Almost puked once because of the odd sensation. I turned white, sweat broke and got dizzy.

Hang in there. Hope you get better very fast

I don't think they put you totally under, they use conscious sedation, you are still awake but probably won't remember much of the procedure afterwards. My wife has been receiving these injections pretty regularly since her car accident about 10 years ago. A lot of insurance companies won't pay for conscious sedation for this type of procedure.

I have 'episodes' every so often, and the last one (which was my worst yet) happened while I was putting on my fishing waders. I had to lay in the back of our SUV for a couple of hours, and then longer on the sidewalk to our cabin, before I could get inside to a bed. There, I laid for two full days without getting up. I hope the injections help!

I'm feeling better today. I took a bunch of stuff last night so I could sleep. I still have the pins and needles on my left side like my leg is falling to sleep but no back pain. Which is good.

My wife's back is in really bad shape with arthritis and several herniated disks. She is getting injections now to determine the best area to perform a nerve ablation.

I had a herniated disk many years ago and thankfully somehow it healed over time, I can only imagine the pain she and others are in. That's the think with back issues, only the person suffering knows how bad it is and yet they "look" fine.
