Shigaclone PS rebuild

I wanted to use my diy cd player a few months ago and it would not power up sometimes. I found a bad solder connection and all was well. As I worked on it I saw I didn't have a second capacitor in the regulator circuit. Now it has two black gate caps. That led to making a larger box for the power supply. I used leftover exotic wood since it is a small case. I think it turned at well and it sounds better also. Now I am comparing it to my PC files and I can't say either sounds better. Both sound great. The jvc boom box lives.

    Nice work! Great album too!

I've been using The Essential Melody Gardot double album on vinyl to test record.

We have a bunch of her CDs but not vinyl. RTR recordings? I've been slowly digitizing my vinyl. Trying to downsize. Hard work

Yes, RTR :o recordings, to test them after repair/calibration. Digitizing vinyl is quite a project. I've done some but have many waiting.

I bought back my Yamaha gear from Aaron to reassemble a basement system. I had the Mitsubishi LT-5V vertical TT and a pair of Mission bookshelf speakers to complete it. One of these days I'll connect my music server to it. FM is via an attic antenna.

Now that the cd player is working great I had a cover made for it. Tap plastics did a great job. It was made with 1/4" acrylic. I going to get a similar one for the turntable next. x14atxrj39fk.jpg

That looks great! And thanks for sharing about Tap Plastics - that looks like a handy resource.

Got the TT cover from tap plastics. They did a great job. Finally got the TT free of dust. Now I can sleep well again. I also got a light that makes seeing dust and needle drops easier. ub9j35ikk23q.jpg

Nice cover, fellow linear arm user! I used a local glass supply to build a custom sized plexi cover for my Lenco.

What are you using for cartridge wire? KAB Superflex is the best I have used. Extremely flexible, does not add any anti-skate.

I used a grill light for my TT.

I'm using cardas wire. It's very flexible. I'm thinking about moving the step up transformers inside the Eros just to make the interconnects shorter. Shouldn't be too much trouble. We'll see.
