Anyone use foil inductors to rebuild their crossover?

Has anyone used foil inductors to rebuild their SDA crossovers - or any model family for that matter?

Any suggestions for brands and models?

My understanding is to use air-core inductors for the low-pass and band-pass networks, and solid-core inductors for the low-pass networks.

The SDA SRS 2's (blade/blade) should have the following crossover inductors:

TWEETER NETWORK
- (2) 0.4 mH

MIDRANGE NETWORK
- (2) 1.2 mH
- 9.6 mH Due to the high value, this would probably be wire-wound and not foil.

its next impossible to find the right DCR equivalent in foil
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

A resistor could be added in series to a foil inductor to make the correct DCR though, correct?

It's better to just use the right part in my experience.

Any benefit you think you are receiving would be negated and more

agree with @VR3 above, FWIW. Keep things as simple as possible; generally, I'd opine that it's false economy to add parts to work around a discrepancy in a perceived upgrade.

Mind you (and, again, FWIW), I am a fan of Goertz foil inductors -- but I've only used them in ab initio crossover construction, as opposed to retrofitting. :p
