New Addition to the Polk Stable
Picked up these up a couple weeks ago. If I'm being honest, I probably paid more than I should have. One speaker had a rattle, ended up being a wire routing issue. Fixed that. I verified operation of all driver's before purchasing. Came home hooked them up. Good God, these sound terrible! Maybe this has something to do with it?

WTF? How does that happen? Other tweeter looked good, but sounded terrible too.
Anyway, I had a pair of Wohan SL-2500 tweeters that I built. Switched them in. Sound pretty good. Bass is a little fat. Not sure if they are keepers yet.

8TLs?
What's wrong with the tweeters? I can't tell, but I don't know nuthin.I disabled signatures. -
The close-up pic, the surround if you want to call it that, is very deformed. Other one looked good but still sounded terrible. I'm guessing they were close to getting fried at some point. They were very dead sounding even though producing sound. The rebuilt tweeters brought everything back into balance. I have two more domes, so I'll rebuild them.

Those are the Sl2500 out of my M7s.
Have you tried VR3’s tweeter pads ? They help take off a lot of the sharpness. Makes them a little smoother and more focused. All that said the SL2500 is just an ok tweeter definitely not one of greatest.
You can also upgrade it to the RD0198

These are starting to grow on me. The rebuilt tweeters with the eBay domes sound, really, good! I feel the bass is still a bit fat, but the slam is great! I've pushed these, and they just keep asking for more.

Picked up another pair a couple days ago. 7c's. Had a quick listen before buying, they sounded terrible. Zero low end. Think brighter than Klipsch. Seller said he bought them from a "retro" shop and they refurbished them. Cabinets are probably the nicest I've come across in a long time Brought them home and dug in. Issue #1, binding post nuts backwards. Not really an issue, but told me somebody didn't know what they were doing. Opened them up. Issue #2, the poly fill was rolled up tight behind the tweeters. Issue #3, the midwoofers were wired out of phase as confirmed by schematics posted by @dorokusai many years ago. Fixed all those issues, put a pair of RDO-194s in. Damn! These may be the best sounding monitors I've had!
Still need to do the covers still.

That should say, xovers!

Those are in fantastic condition.

It's too bad that the bezel on the new tweeters distorts without a washer under each mounting screw.
The RTA8TL hit way above their price point. -

Good point. I should add some.
