For those of you who may want to up your game on your rack, Trey spotted this one near Greensboro, NC. Killer rack at a decent price but too small for my needs.

Decent price? ...That's more than my speakers cost me on the used market.

Well, for a rack like that? It's a decent price. You wouldn't want to know what a rack like this costs....

    24p2r3hvnhhh.png

I have seen some German racks that were upward of well over 17K new....and that was about 17 years or so ago. That's why I settled on my Empire rack. Mostly because I could afford it. Even that wasn't a "bargain" and I was out 10 Benjamin's. 11, after tax. Again, this was 17 years ago dollars.

Comparatively speaking, for a rack that offers isolation? It is offered at a decent price.

Tom, Me thinks this is going the way of the $700 fuse or the $6500 AC receptacle discussion. German made doesn't add up to 17K for a rack. That's gotta be 80+% profit

It's no different than a 5K Ethernet cable or a 2K filter. Some folks have the need or see the value, others don't. If this rack could actually fit what gear I have, I would seriously consider it. In fact, I did.

Right up to the point of me not being able to fit the gear I need on and in it. I am currently in the market for a new rack that has effective vibration control/isolation properties, and this is one of the "types" of racks I have been looking at.

BTW, most speakers that one buys retail? Yeah, they are all at 80+% profit. That does not mean that all profit goes straight to the designer/manufacturer. A big chunk goes into retail sites, advertising, shipping, normal business overhead costs, middlemen, VAT fees (if overseas), packaging, R&D costs, packaging costs, advertising and marketing costs, warranty costs, etc.

An 80% markup on speakers has been discussed many times on this forum and in general, is considered an industry norm. If folks are okay with paying that kind of normal markup for a speaker, then why would one have any issues with other pieces of gear?

Some folks at are at a level (and also make the dough) to warrant such purchases. I'll stand by my statement that this is a decent price for this rack. Some folks will never see the value, others will.

    My point exactly...
This isn't the "What is Best" forum. This is Polk. Yes, a few of us have ventured to the high end, but I don't think any of us are sitting on a system that looks like this:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJGnDSa71VE&t=534s

That Naim rack though, glass shelves at that price? No thanks. I think there are much better options if you truly want isolation.

Bill, I gotta be honest here. I am a little perplexed at your your recent posts on this thread and it kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I posted it because of the fact that all I seemed to have seen on this thread were Salamander racks, ad nauseam. Salamander, Salamander, Salamander.....I don't even recall even seeing another rack on this thread. They are apparently a dime a dozen. (figure of speech)

I thought I would spice it up a bit and post (what I consider) a decent deal on something other than a Salamander rack.

Now, you are seemingly suggesting that I should not post things because members of the Polk Forum are not interested in a rack that may be better than what they are currently using? Or one that they may not have even knew existed?

I can count more than I have fingers on both of my hands, Polk Forum members over the years that have talked about and personally own/use speakers that (all of the following is estimated retail) cost well over 20K to 50K, streamers that are pushing or over 9K, some cables that are between 2K to 10K, amps that are between 10K to 60K, transports and CDP's that are anywhere between 2K to 25K and even power conditioners that are up to 9K.

All I posted was a link to a measly 4K rack I thought folks might have been interested in, yet it seems as if you feel as if I don't know the crowd here. Some folks enjoy the finer things in life. Some folks (myself included) like looking at nice systems/gear and things that are out of reach for them personally. My passion is in audio and its reproduction. Yes, this is not the WBF and it's not AudiogoN. But there are some members on both of those forums that have systems that mimic many of the members of this forum. Not everyone on the WBF or the 'Gon has million dollar systems.

Now, if you would like to debate the merits of glass shelves on a rack in another thread, I am game. But please, don't suggest to me that I don't know this crowd. There were folks here that had more in just one component within their system than I had in my entire system when I first joined. I didn't jump on them when they spoke about gear that was out of reach for me. I would appreciate it if you would show me the same courtesy.

Tom, Sorry if I got your panties in a wad. I didn't mean to dis you. I do respect your opinion on most things related to audio and I know there is some high dollar inventory in the hands of many forum members.
However, I've been looking at this thread for most of the nearly 20 years I've been on this forum and it has mostly featured items that are under $2000, and that is usually for a big amp or monster speakers. Maybe my comment earlier was rooted in the fact that I don't have much respect for Naim as a brand and maybe that is a fault of my own.
I agree, Salamanders have overwhelmed this thread lately, which is why I posted yesterday.
    Anyway, I'll buzz off now.

Anyone have these outside? I’ve considered some outdoor speakers on my shop but wasn’t sure how they’d hold up here in South Carolina.

I've heard these speakers awhile back while dining outdoors at a local brewery. No idea how they hold up to the elements, but they had decent sound and for the price I think they are worth a try.

I have had a pair outside on a covered patio for 8 years. They still work great and sound good. The humid weather here in Houston hasn't seemed to affect anything.

Thanks! Going to see what I can work out. I've been to Dallas but not Houston. So I know nothing about Texas weather. Currently working on a lean - to project that is going to be more than I expected....

I've had a pair (either the 4 or 6... not sure and too damn cold to go outside and check!) outside, in the direct weather on the side of our garage for years. They're out year round in the not-so-mild Central PA weather. I think I picked them up used about 10 or more years ago. Still going strong.
