Pair of these popped up really close to me (4 min) so I impulse bought them as a gift for a friend. I stupidly didn't check them before accepting and I discovered one of the MW6500s is magnet shifted and that side cabinet isn't sealed correctly.

Cabinets are in nearly new condition at least, that's the main reason other than crazy close proximity for me buying them. Plus my friend just doesn't have real speakers....

Does anyone happen to have a spare 6500 or am I stuck having to reglue? I don't really want to replace them with the 6503s if I can avoid it.

Thanks!

Do any members still offer repair services? I've had very poor luck finding a spare and would prefer to to not screw up a 6500 on my first attempt at a fix....

It's really not that hard to re-center. You could fix it in was less time and way less cost of a good used driver (which may show up at your doorstep magnet-shifted anyway)...

That said I'd be happy to help if I can. It would involve you shipping the driver to me with a return label, and hoping the driver isn't damaged in some other way that would prevent it from working correctly after re-centering.

I will fix your shifted magnets for free. :)

Been gone a long time but I finally remembered to update this thread, I have a bad habit of not posting much on audio forums......I end up just listening to my gear vs talking much about it lol!

We ended up nearly totally going through the M10s, did all the cabinet mods including powergrab on all seams and magnets, armacell for driver and connector plate sealing (can hold pressure for over 12 seconds now), BH5 4x4 squares behind all 4 MW6500s after finding two NOS drivers on eBay, Dynamatt extreme on all baskets, hurricane nuts for all drivers, and reset the polyfill to be in the correct area.

The most fun part was doing a 85db normalized A/B test with a fully modded speaker vs the other totally stock one, we expected a difference (hoped for one really) with all that we did but the actual changes were surprisingly effective. Separation of elements was massively improved, noise floor was lowered, and general clarity was very noticeably improved even when tested blind (had my wife swap speakers a few times to make sure it was not in our heads).

Both setup together upstairs 8 ft from any walls and in a 24ft celling area resulted in a surprisingly excellent presentation and the M10s hung and perfect center image and stage to each side with everything placed where it is supposed to be. Much better than what I personally expected, he is going to order some VR3 crossovers depending on how this week goes.....

Main reason being a set of one owner SRS2s and 1.2TLs came up for sale and we are going out to buy both sets, I'm keeping the 1.2s and having the super fancy VR3 crossovers made with a isolation transformer plus full cabinet mods. If he decides to keep the SRS2s as his mains he will get crossovers and fully mod them and the M10s will be relegated to another job
