Ok, up front I have to say I couldn't stand this girls 1st album, way too bubble-gum for me (skater boi??? get real), but this latest album has some merit. She has grown up and it shows clearly in her lyrics and tone in this album. Sure, a few songs sound so close Alanis that it's spooky--most notably "Forgotten" though it's a good cut.
This latest effort is worth a listen, I can't find anything I would call "filler" material. Alot of good rythm guitar and solid bass drums. Definitely an album you can pop in and let play all the way through without feeling the need to skip a track.
I rate it (1 to 5; 5 being best):
Sound Quality: ***1/2
Content: ***1/2

Great CD here...
Just very bright recording...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
after her first few songs, I don't think I can even give this a shot. "Hey look at me!!! I'm a skater girl... with primped hair." :rolleyes:Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

What did you expect guys? Beethoven?
She was jailbait when the last album was written and recorded, and she isn't that old now. I don't really expect too many <20 year olds to write something that would appeal to me beings I am in my 30's....it isn't music FOR you.....hello?CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
This cd is one of my "guilty pleasures". It has has all the trappings of the typical pop formula, slick, overproduced and it really doesn't stray to far from her last effort. She has a way to go before she can compete w/Alanis. She plays it a bit safe and doesn't stretch too much.
All things considered a good cd to listen to occassionally.
Sound Q-*** at best

P.S. To her credit she wrote/co-wrote most of the songs, which wasn't the case w/her 1st release"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. I listen to everything from Pink Floyd to Alison Kraus and I enjoy listening to this album every once in a while. In fact I think it is a killer "modern" day album. FWIW, I don't own any Britney Spears cds as Avril is much better in my opinion...not even in the same galaxy. I respect her songwriting.
Trey, not as bright as some other albums I have. I think they did a pretty good job with recording her voice to minimize sibilance. In fact I don't hear much at all.
Favorite tracks are #3 "Don't Tell Me", #7 "Nobody's Home", and #12 "Slipped Away" (which was co-written by Chantel Kreviazuk). #12 is a very emotional and powerful song when you listen to the words with it cranked up. I love the chorus on that song. -
I am listening to the CD now, and keeping in mind that I have a ripped copy of a store bought CD... the CD sounds very bright. This is one of the few CDs, if not the only one that sounds incredibly bright and sibilant...
Almost annerving, particularly at higher volumes...
Other than that, the recording is really clear.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
