Ideas for a job that is over the top...

This is one of those, "That's my Boy!" moments.....

The story without boring you. We set goals as parents. He is around 15 years old (don't want the bots to collect personal information here....).

He exceeded those goals and then some.....and then some. We don't spoil him (we do) but we do keep him grounded.

What would you do to reward him for a job that was well executed and blew past that point?

We already bought him a car. Paid for. This was before we knew what he did. What would be some suggestions?

I was prepared for a hellione (like me at that age). What I wasn't prepared for is this.

What say you?

    I highly recommend you take a day off from work and do whatever it is he wants to do, with him, without interruption and at the end of the day look him dead in the eyes and say, I am beyond proud of you and give him a hug and a firm hand shake.

    He will never forget it.

    Even if its video games for 12 hours. Whatever it is!

    I know I would have enjoyed that as a 15 year old kid with my Dad! :-P

    Welp, that only leaves something totally crazy. Maybe track down someone he looks up to, like an athlete or celebrity and arranging a way for them to meet. Sounds far fetched but also very memorable.

    Buy him a sum of silver (a tube - 20 - silver eagles @$35 each, for example). Explain to him the value of silver. The fact that the value of silver never changes - that it’s the value of our currency that changes. Explain the importance of tangible assets. You could also give him “junk” silver - pre ‘64 dimes, quarters and halves. More lessons there on how our currency used to be based on tangible assets. Point is, it’s not just the gift of the sliver (or gold, if you’re so inclined), but the lesson and knowledge that he’ll never forget.

    I agree instead of giving him material things I would do something with him. Too much emphasis on materialism these days. Take him to an event like a baseball game or some other sport he’s interested in. Be there with him.

    I know where you're coming from Tom.
    I have two grandkids that are, and I am admittedly biased, bodaciously doing awesome in school and life 🤗
    What I did for them was that I rewarded them each with personally signed pictures of their favorite Grandpa !
    ....it brought tears to their eyes with with sobs of joy of "Oh, why, dear God, why ?!" 🥹🥲

    In lieu of that, VR3's suggestions are very, very good.👍✅
    (not as good as mine, of course, but still not bad)

    Yes, I was going to say … is there someplace he’s never been but has always wanted to see? For my daughter, it is Japan, which is not practical or imminent, but something within the great US of A would be an option, for sure.

    Also agree it would help to know what his interest are to spur additional ideas.

    Best part of Japan is that it's the layover for many international flights so you can actually stay there for a sling as you like and then connect to another flight to another destination for very little additional money.

    Time to go to Japan and maybe Singapore or Vietnam or Thailand Tom!
