I recently picked up a pair of SDA 1's, now have found a listing for a pair of Monitor 7c's. They appear to have the same drivers i.e. SL 1000 silver plate tweeters. Anyone know if the Monitor 7's have the MW 6500 mid and SL 1000 tweeters?

Thanks.

I am new to vintage Polk and have been trying to get my arms around the different drivers. I am in need of a replacement SL 1000 (silver plate) and a MW 6500 driver for my SDA 1's. The picture posted on the Monitor 7c's looks identical to my silver plated SL 1000's, but I have seen different two different tweeter shown in pictures of the Monitor 7c's. This is harder than I thought....

I'm sorry, after looking at the pictures again...they are different. Are the Monitor 7c's worth picking up for $80-90?

Monitor series speakers came with different parts.

I have monitor 10As with peerless tweeters and Monitor 7Bs with peerless tweeters- so the components vary with each model.....

if you want them, they are worth picking up for that price... that price is just slightly below going rate.. so yeah a good deal. the monitor 7's are a fine speaker.. but no where near what a SDA speaker can do.

An absolute no-brainer at that price. Unless of course you don't have a need for them.

2nd that. The 7C's have the Peerless tweeter and sound great. I have new speakers in the basement and the 7C's are my main speaker.

For $90 if you don't like them, you will have no problems getting rid of them on this forum.

I was under the impression that the originals were peerless, then SL1000's, and then SL2000's?
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

maybe. not sure. you'd have to look at an original pair with the 8" passive to be sure what tweeters were in the early 7's ;)

I have Monitor 7Cs and they are terrific. Superb, balanced sound, they go surprisingly deep with their passive bass radiator. The original tweeters were SL2000s on my 1986 pair. I damaged one and replaced it with the RD-0184. This is a smoother, sweeter tweeter, but both are great in their own way I drive these with a Denon AVR-S750H 7.1 surround receiver, and a Pioneer SW8-mk2 sub. You'd need to spend a lot of money to beat this sound for music. Highly recommended.

The 7C's fully modded are no joke.
