Audire Crescendo 2ch amp.

75w continous 8/ohm, I've run the amp down as low as 2ohm, without it breaking a sweat.

Retail was $825 about 5 years ago, amp is still made today. 52,000 uF capacitance + 500v power supply = GROSSLY overbuilt and gobs of headroom. Drives my SRS 2's with EASE. About as 'tube like' as sand amps can get.

High tone, esoteric amp, without the high tone price.

$225 shipped. Better pictures tonight when I get home.

Yep, getting rid of excess, streamlining a bit. I have 2 of these, I'm keeping one. They are THAT good.

what exactly do you mean tube like? I'm just curious as I have no experience with any tube amp. Do tube amps sound brighter? Would the power be more important than quality for driving 9s? Right now I'm driving my 9s with an AV-505 (Carver).

Not bright at all, more the opposite warm, lush, and well controlled.

    Russ,

Any commentary on how it well it would drive 9s compared to a 100 wattx5 carver amp?

My personal preference would be the Audire, by a landslide.

    Russ,
Is this the bipolar or mosfet version? The Mosfet version should be more tube-like.

hey russ, could you drop me an estimation on its depth or dimensions? Also, would it be bad if I stacked my pre on top of this unit, how hot does this thing get? I just wanted to get an idea before I drop the hammer on this thing. Upgraditis is a ****!

It's not terribly deep. I'll measure when I get home. Less than 10" I'm fairly sure. It doesn't heat up at all, even though it runs class A/AB.

I don't know if it's mosfet or not, I'd have to pop the hood.

    Cheers,
    Russ

You never want to put other equipment directly on top of an amplifier. You should maintain 4-5 inches clearance at least for the heat to dissapate.

    Russ,
If those ahead of me decide to pass, I'll definitely take it. That is a confirmed yes. Consider it sold one way or the other.

I've heard this amp before and know what it can do.

I'm working nights this week but will be in touch within 24 hours.

Dude, I don't know how you make any money on this whale of a deal. Hookin up the forum once again.

You got it Paul. The sooner the better for me.

All that being said, rnp614, if you are going to use it in home theater, I wouldn't. The carver is great HT amp, and you won't notice much, other than a tonal shift in HT.

It really should be in a 2ch rig.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Nah, my intended use was for 2 channel music, I hardly watch movies. If I really do get "dibs" rights for asking questions first, I'll take it.

So does anyone else have some Audire equipment or have heard any? What were your experiences? I'm definitely excited to try this thing out.

Also, anyone know where I can get a 2 shelf setup. I want a little stand thing that will just hold the preamp and the amp and nothing else.

Any good websites or anything I should check out?

If you are buying it from Russman....I assure, that you will be happy. If not, you are destined for KMart gear....in other words JohnK.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I'm just wondering how prevalent Audire is, not questioning his opinion or his reputation. It seems like a somewhat smaller company thats why I asked if anyone else had any experience with them. If I didnt completely trust Russ I wouldnt have bought it.

So, anyways, anyone at least have any idea of some good webpages that have audio furniture?

Check out Audioadvisor.com - they have some great stuff up for sale usually, and a decent selection.

Some of the best sounding gear, comes from smaller, little known companies. You aren't buying a mass-produced car off the showroom floor, you are buying a hand-built custom machine.

Besides, I left you 'room' to get out of it if for some reason you don't like it. That amp will bring 275-325 + ship on agon in heartbeat.

    Cheers,
    Russ
