CS400 + fx500 + ???
gshisme and I have PM'ed regarding selecting and wiring of front channels to go with the above setup. Does anyone have any opinions about going with the RT800 vs the RT55? If I go with the 800 it will be matched with a sub to be named later for LFE. The 55's may each get a sub to use as a speaker stand. One sub for LFE the other for music. (kind of a poor man's RT3000) I am thinking the 55's should be biwired so I can send the woofer signal through the sub to give it a bandpass without having cascading crossovers on the tweeters.
Does anyone have any input in the on which way I should go?
Thanks for any input,
labrat

labrat,
Spent a good portion of the day tinkering with some of these crazy setups and ended up using the LFE connections for the best sound and PLENTY of low end for two channel.
RT55i's as the mains and a JBL e250p just behind and to the outside a little of both 55i's. Speakers are set to large (they are set to small for all other formats) with x-over set at 60. I just use the receiver's speaker management to raise or lower the sub's volume..if needed. Some cd mixes are bass heavy, thus the volume adjustement. Wish the subs had remote capabilities for my lazy arse.
Anyway I keep thinking of putting together a dedicated two channel system but I don't know...I have the H/T system sounding pretty damn GOOD for two channel listening. Nice low end even at low listening levels for late evening listening pleasure.suds, suds and more suds! -
gshisme,
Thanks for your tinkering - and posting the results. While it is wonderful to be able to use the same system for H/T and two channel, it depends on how much two channel listening you do before it is worth spending a lot of time and money getting it set just right.
Thanks again for your help in getting something set up that is capable of both,
