Thread locking

I agree the Green Day thread got a little out of hand, mostly due to me. Guess I couldn't help responding to some of the initial comments made in regards to the politics, and for that I apologize.
However, I would like to say that I've seen threads get so far off track for posts on end, that veer so far from the original point that it is silly. And some of them get downright nasty, a whole lot nastier than voicing a few opinions, to the point that those who were attacked left the forum completely.
I'd just like to say I think that whole thread locking was pretty ****, especially given the fact that the thread had not really become hostile at all, and I thought my comments were rather non-confrontational and rational.
Granted, it is an audio forum, and I had begun to feel bad about that thread as it deviated from audio. Still, I think locking the thread was overboard, and I certainly think if some of the other threads have gone on for weeks with hostility and tangents, that overreacting to one that got a little political was uncalled for.
End rant.

    Gregure,

Were you a member here when Spyderman was here?

I think locking the thread was exactly the right thing to do. Talk politics somewhere else.
    Forum Rules

    1) Stick to the topic of the forum. This way information is easily categorized to make it easy for new members to access. Threads or posts that do not contain relevant information will be removed.

    2) The discussion of politics and religion is not allowed on this forum.

    Gregure,

It looks like you joined right around the time one of the more problematic 'members' of the forum got banned for his threatening, excessive political postings.

Don't take it personally. The forum just has had bad experiences in the past. Ones that revolve around political debate and banter.

One solution that seems to work is to lock down threads early.

Well, I regret going off a bit on the politics. I guess I'm very defensive when people bash good music, and I don't really have an outlet for discussing politics because most of my friends are too busy drinking to care much about politics. I won't let that happen again.
I don't really know who Spyderman is, and don't recall reading anything by him.
I was referring to some different incidents.

You can do a search for 'spyder' to get a better understanding of why your thread got shut down.
