Do large artificial plants make good diffusers?

Been doing some major clean up in the room and it looks like there will be large portions of the front wall being completely bare.
I plan to get some large artificial plants to place between the LCD and each speaker. I will probably add a pair of Himalayan salt lamp underneath each plant for a nice warm and cozy effect. Should look pretty nice with all the lights out except for the salt lamps.
I'll be taking away the RT1000's next to the LCD.
What do you think?

    I have wondered the same thing actually. To the right side of of my 2.3TL's there is an artificial tree. I have often wondered if it makes for a good diffuser. I do not know, but maybe someone else does.

    Depends on what you're trying to diffuse---for controlling bass, they will do nothing. Controlling bass nodes requires "feet-thick" of insulating material to truly be effective.

    I'm perfectly happy with the bass. Just want to diffuse upper mids and highs. You know, that slight high pitched reverb when you stand next to a bare wall and do a single clap with your hands. Or maybe I should look into absorbtion panels instead?

    Panels would be more effective, but some prefer fake trees due to the aesthetics.

    Do you have the opportunity to try before you buy? Maybe a local craft store with a good return policy?

    BTW, where is your neato EL34 SE amp? :cool:

    Thanks for the input. I'm more concerned about sound quality than overall looks. I think I will check with my dealer if he has any panels for sale. He did tell me a few years ago he was planning to sell them but I haven't asked him about it since.

    Well, I was planning to get the plants from Wal Mart but I think I will try out the panels instead. Maybe add the plants in the future just for looks lol. Should be a nice mixture of diffusion and absorption with both in place.
    That pic was taken back when I first got the Medallions. I used an EL84 single ended pentode int. for the first week. It's a nice sounding amp but I prefer my EL34:-).

    LOL. I already mentioned I was gonna go panels instead and he still said artificial plants DON'T make good diffusers and gave a link to a store selling plants lol.

    I'll take big breasted women as diffusers anyday over a potted plant. The trick is getting them to face a certain direction and not move. Wine helps....lots of wine.
