And I'm not talking about my roof...

Left side of my head/face feels/looks like I took a head first plunge into some poison oak, etc. I look like a leper. Went to the doc once I realized it wasn't going away on its own and got some meds. Eye doc says it's good I got on it right away. It's in my eye also but should clear up. So far the pain and itching isn't too bad, but I hear the after affects can be worse. Yay, me!👎

I had a mild case once I think. I took Lysine 1000 mg 2x per day and it seemed to help. Also, there is the Shingrix vaccine but I don't know how long after a bout you need to wait. Try to avoid foods high in L-Arginine like nuts.

Man I felt your pain... about 30 years ago. I had shingles when I was in college all around my torso. I have some lasting nerve damage from it that flares up when I get sick or over stressed. Sometimes migraines trigger it.

Take good care. Glad they have good meds now.

I have never known anyone who had shingles before but I have heard that it is very painful and a huge disruption to daily life. So sorry to hear of this, Dave. Best wishes for the least painful and fastest recovery possible.

Stress can cause shingles to appear. Shingles can also reappear over the years.

I had shingles in 1997 when my father died, and the pain, etc was awful. I missed more than a week of work. My mother had them at the same time. Because of my mother's age, she never got over the residual pain called post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN). PHN is long-term nerve pain in the area where the rash first appeared.

One of my coworkers had shingles mainly on his face and eye during the same year, and he required plastic surgery regarding the eye. His father was suffering with heart trouble and required open heart surgery.

I've had the first vaccine but not the second one; the second one was initially in short supply when introduced. The second shot usually has quite a few painful side effects according to friends and relatives that have received it.

I have my yearly physical next week, and I know my doctor will suggest the second vaccine. The second vaccine is much more effective than the first shot, up to 91%.

I will get the second vaccine after thinking about the past.

Your doctor or pharmacist can give you Shingrix as a shot in your upper arm. Until the second shot became available, the shot was not available except at a pharmacy.

My wife had a mild case a couple of months ago (didn’t even know it shingles at the time) and now she’s have some odd things going on with her body. Not sure if it’s related or just coincidence, but she’s now seeing a cardiologist so hopefully we can get some answers. Her doctor
told her that COVID sometimes manifests itself as shingles.

Best of luck for a full recovery.

Sorry about you getting shingles. I've heard it's painful and life-changing for a while or a lot longer. My Father-in-law got it on his face and tongue for a month I think. He lived too far away for us to visit and he had plenty of people around him to take care of all his needs. He was about 80 to 85 at that time. Poor man. :'(

Stress? Watching the MSM and our leaders and their family members and their cohorts up in DC since the golden staircase, my whole body should've been covered with it for the past 6 years. :s I must not have the Chicken Pox virus in me or something else good thank God.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Much appreciated! To follow up, things seem to be getting better. Luckily my vision has been okay as the area affected is on the upper part of the cornea out of direct line of sight. I have a third visit with the eye doc tomorrow to check if things have cleared. Most of the lesions are on my scalp resulting in a burning sensation now. It's more annoying than painful. I'm typically not one to rush off to the doctor. Glad I did this time and got on the antiviral medication fast!

Had the Shingles 20 years ago in my 30's on the right side of my face and eye. I didn't go to the doctor for over a week thinking it was just a rash or allergic reaction. The pain was bad, real bad. I almost lost my right eye from it.

Doctor gave me some meds and told me to just rest. Took over a month to clear up. The headaches were on and off for a few years. I still have a droop in my right eye, I also get a sandy feeling in my eye and tearing. Doctors said it's a side affect I'll have for the rest of my life.
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.
