    Into which category would you put the late James Bongiorno's Great American Sound Company (GAS)?

    It has been widely claimed that Roy Hall's (Music Hall) turntable model designation, MMF, stands for Make Money Fast.

    And I have read right on these august fora what the "F" in Adcom's "GFA" designations is purported to represent: Great <F'ing> Amplifier

    telefunken is/was a conglomerate (or at least an electronics giant).
    They made/make all kinds of stuff, including plenty of hifi.

    There is a 1950s-era Telefunken idler-drive record changer a-sittin' in the basement even as I type this. It is not mine, but part of a restoration Imma help a friend with.

    Telefunken is indeed a great name.
    "Tele" means distant or from a distance (Greek)
    "funken" means spark(s) - German
