Room Correction software and SDA...

I am looking to get my hands on the Arcam AVR30. In theory, I am looking to the Arcam to replace my Pioneer AVR and my Pass Labs stack. My goal is to vastly simplify my setup by getting top quality gear and reduce the number of components needed to enjoy my setup.

My question is basically this... what has been the experience of those using room correction software such as Dirac Live and others when SDA speakers are used? I know my Pioneer had a heck of a time trying to figure the 1.2TL's out, and I suspect a similar or harder time with the L800 because of the baffle angles.

Any advice on how best to set this stuff up?

I love Dirac live with my conventional speakers! Only room correction I’ve
ever used with two channel and it makes a significant positive difference. But…my used Arcam SR250 has been a nightmare. I bought it as a demo and did not purchase a warranty. Big mistake…I loved it when it worked, sounded incredible, but the power supply is failing. I have been dreading calling the shop for a repair estimate…

I did it once years ago, I ended up disconnecting the crossover cable during the calibration. Can’t remember the results now. So this is a big help.

At least with the old speakers, the baffle was flat. I would imagine that the 15 degree offset of the new ones will only mess up the calibration, cable connected or not.

Since that is the setup, I’m not sure it would hurt, just a thought though.

    Good luck.

I tried the Audyssey on my Onkyo pre/pro. Works great for movies. SUCKS for stereo though. It can never get the balance right with the SDA's. Even with the crossfeed cable disconnected. I just use the pure direct mode for stereo music listening and bypass all of that stuff.
