I'm currently using my SDA 2Bs with for 2 channel duty with a brown audio labs pre and a Odyssey Stratos. I want to use the for HT mains on occasion. Would switching them to a entry level Sony receiver cause any issues?
*obviously I would be switching back to my main system for music
*I have a CS350-ls for a center channel on the way

Yes, If you listen to movies or music very loud you run the risk of the receiver clipping and burning out your tweeters. Don't get fooled by the multichannel receiver power ratings. Always look for the watts per channel rating instead of the total watts the receiver puts out.windstriker wrote: »Would switching them to a entry level Sony receiver cause any issues?

Thanks that is what I feared. May look for another receiver with at least front pre.

I was in the same boat. I picked up a Marantz SR-1509 slimline receiver because it had pre outs for the front left and right. I have been happy with it thus far. I recall finding it on accessories4less for a reasonable price. I wouldn't consider this a serious Home Theater, but I mostly use it for stereo and I have an external amp to power my L/R channels. HDMI switching and other basic functions work well enough to keep me happy.
Looks like the next gen SR-1510 is available now for $549SDA SRS 2.3tl, SDA 1C, SDA 2B (TL mod), Reserve 200
