Asking for a friend, purchased in Japan maybe in 68/69. Original box, teak wood case, very good original condition. Any help on where best to look would be appreciated. Is Ebay the best place to look for recent sales or is there a better source? I understand Pioneer receivers have gone way up in value

Pretty piece of hardware the SX-1000TD.
    If they're going for $300, it's definitely a sellers' market! :)

As an aside, there's an SX-1500T here someplace... ostensibly "better" than the SX-1000T(D), but definitely not as attractive. :|
It was given to me by a dear friend, so here it stays.

Was the SX-1000TD the first of the solid state receivers?

No, not really. Even Pioneer (I think) had earlier ss receivers.
    I think (?!?) their first might've been the SX-700T

The first solid state receiver was... umm... I should know. Not harman/kardon.
Gonna have to get back to you on that.
