Hooked my old iPhone up to Marantz SR6001 to play Amazon Music library. Any advice for better SQ?

Hooked it up to RCAs for tape. Used a Monster cable with RCAs on one end and headphone jack on other end. Sounds ok. But it (iPhone w Amazon music) sounds awesome with ear buds or headphones. Any ideas to get better sound? As always, thanks. D

Ditto on the Pure dock. The only problem, they don't make them anymore.

Cheapest method is buy this and use airplay:
    http://m.gamestop.com/product/elect/electronics/apple-tv-gen-3-2013-gamestop-premium-refurbished/111340

Assuming you have wifi, you can also buy an amazon fire stick. That it also cheap and easy.

Many people prefer the audio quality of this and it has the added advantage of being a wifi extender:

final option I can think of that's reasonably priced:

This last one is the only fairly cheap option I know of that can extract digital audio from your iPhone.

Are all Amazon files lossy? I haven't investigated it, since I've never used their audio services.

How about for those who use lossless files on their iPods/iphones/etc.?

Details on Amazon audio downloads here:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201379550

    Only 256k bit rate used.

And a little bit more info from here: http://squirreltrenchaudio.com/2014/11/01/cd-quality-versus-mp3-quality-whats-good-enough/

CD quality is a very high standard of music quality. Even better forms of digital audio exist, but this is irrelevant for the dance world and dance purposes. Here is a list of format qualities, from fantastic to poor:
1.CD quality (usually stored as either AIF or WAV format)
2.m4a/AAC — iTunes store quality, 256k bit rate

3.mp3 — 256k or higher, variable bit rate – this is nearly as good as iTunes store quality. Most people on most systems won’t hear a difference between this and CD quality

4.mp3 — 128 k or lower bit rate—- this is where you start to hear what are often called “swirlies” especially in the high frequencies of the music.
5.The worst possible digital music is music that is saved as an mp3, and then saved as an mp3 again (possibly more than once). This is how audio from YouTube gets to be so bad.

On higher end music systems you can tell the difference. On standard receiver with a couple of speakers... maybe not so much. That's just my experience.

I've got files converted in iTunes at the standard default rate and at a higher rate...and I can easily tell the difference.

Lossless will sound better and take up more drive space. Won't be able to fit as much on your Ipod/Iphone.

To play Amazon Music on your iPhone, also connect to Marantz. I think you may have a lot of problems during the operation because I have also tried to do this. Various problems occurred during my operation. Later, I chose to use Tunelf Amatune Audio Converter to download songs from Amazon Music to my local computer, and then transfer them to USB for playback. I recommend you to try this method. After the song is downloaded, move the file directly to your iPhone, so you can play the music without going through the Amazon Music app.

    Ditto.

Might be ok for the young crowd who don't care about sound quality, but if you have any concern for quality tunes, lossy isn't even in contention.

You could try using a fire stick on one for your HDMI ports and run the Amazon Music App. I can't think of anything much cheaper than that

The main issue is the signal output voltage from your phone
