I went in to this purchase with high expectations and frankly it delivered. While I didn't go to high school in the south I could definitely relate to some of this stuff on a much smaller scale.

I thought Billy Bob did a phenomenal job....and one of the 'kids' in the story is the kid from Sling Blade...I think that's incredible since I didn't think that movie was that old.

Anyhow....For me this was worth the purchase all the way. Maybe a rental for some, but any football fan would most likely love this one.

I went to see it in the movies and was disappointed. Rental material IMO. Story was altered quite a lot too.

Sling Blade was in 97... so call it 96 when they filmed it. That's been 8+ years.

Anyhow, i haven't seen this one yet but might rent it some night when there's nothing better to watch. I think BBT is a pretty damn good actor.

Saw this one last night. Pretty good, although the camera work kind of annoyed me - very jumpy.

I know it was based on a true story, but I still really liked the end too.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

"Based", like every other Hollywood movie. The reality was quite different than the movie. They didn't even play in state championship game that year... :)

I thought it was a fine film. Better than most these days for two reasons, specificaly:

1- There wasn't a gun in the movie.
    2- There wasn't a 'love story'.

Despite the lack of these two 'Hollywood Must-Haves', the movie had me rapt, and teary-eyed by the end.

I was disapointed. It wasn't really a bad movie, but I had really high hopes for this one and it fell a bit short.

I'll probably get flamed for saying this, but IMO Remember the Titans was a far better movie...

    Didnt like it...

Dunno if it was the movie, or the fact the movie wasnt that good and everyone had a deep country accent (which annoys me) -

I definetely liked Remember The Titans more, ALOT more...
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

The fact there wasn't a love story (which seems almost obligitory in hollywood) made this film that much better. It was raw and honest and it's nice to see a movie that doesn't have a storybook ending that has just as good of a message as those that do.

Not everyone is a winner. Great movie, IMO...but then again I don't always like films that are all fluff and this certainly wasn't fluff.
