Just wondering what's your favorite Queen album. I must say, they're now my favorite band. Only Queen's music can really touch me inside. Did I mention Freddie Mercury was/is the best vocalist?

Well, I own the Platinum greatest hit collection which includes all 3 greatest hits cd's. I don't want to count this as an album.

The albums I own so far are... "A Night at the Opera", "News of the World", "The Miracle" and "Made in Heaven". I also own an album (released by EMI) which contain 6 movements in classical inspired by the music of Queen. A must have for Queen fans who enjoy classical.

I have to say that "A Night at the Opera" is my favorite album so far. What's yours?

I plan to get "A Kind of Magic" next. Can't wait:cool: .

All I know is Queen live is amazing apparently. I never saw them, but my uncle still raves about it and he isn't really a fan.

    Demi,
Cool. The music store had a live DVD last time I checked. I'll have to pick it up. Thanks for the heads up.

If you don't mind the religious undertones (not even undertones, there's some blatantly religious songs), buy Queen I (their first album). There's a couple songs on there that are just unbelievable. "Doin' All Right" comes to mind.

Gotta say my favorite is News of hte World. Sheer Heart Attack's got some good stuff on it too.

And if you're into live, Live at Wembley's a good set.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I'm planning on getting Night At The Opera DTS version very soon. I'm just scouting about for the lowest price. I also have their Greatest Hits double CD.

Had never heard of them until Bohemian Raphosody came out. Never heard anything like it before or since. One of the best groups ever!

Where'd you see the DTS versions? Some of their stuff seems like it would work well in surround sound, but I never knew anyone had mastered it as such. That's awesome if it's out there....

I have just about all of the Queen albums and I can find something good in all of them. They were definitely one of the most talented bands ever. I don't know of any other band that has even attempted to match the Queen sound. You may also want to check out some of Brian May's solo stuff. I had the privelege of seeing Queen live back in the early 80s, at the New Haven Coliseum. They had a 3 ton crown hanging from the ceiling which was actually another stage. They brought it down at some point during the show and did an entire acoustical set on this secondary stage. It was awesome! Freddy Mercury was one of the greatest entertainers. If you want to get an idea of what one of their live shows was like, pickup Queen - Live Killers. It's a great CD.

    My 2 cents

Overall, "Night at the Opera" is probably my fav...

But nice to see some props posted for the older Queen releases... I have their original, self-titled LP and always have liked it. "Keep Yourself Alive" was their first US "hit". It's worth a buy, but don't expect to hear the same Queen that you do in most of their later stuff...
    More later,
    Tour...

Just watched Queen Live at the Bowl DVD, great show - dated obviously by some light bleed trails from old cameras, but it showed the band off really well.

Great sound -- I'll crank it up when the wife and kids are out of the house to see what that DTS track can do.

Wow! Great posts guys. Glad to see there's quite a bit of Queen fans here. I don't know anybody my age who enjoys Queen. I love their old and new stuff.

I first heard Bohemian Rhapsody on Wayne's World. Thought it was cool but I was still very young back then. Then I got a Sarah Brightman CD where she did a cover of "Who Wants to Live Forever". After a while, I saw the Bohemian video on TV. Now I was starting to dig Queen's music even though I've only heard covers and one song performed by the group. Then one day I picked a Blind Guardian CD where they did a cover of "Spread Your Wings". That's when I knew I had to start getting their CD's.

You guys should check out their "Greatest Hits III". There's some rare stuff in there that wasn't released on their albums. Their re-make of "The Great Pretender" is just amazing. Freddie's vocal style is unbelievable.

    Bobman,
You told me to get 'News of the World' back in the summer when I was asking which album "Spread Your Wings" was on. Thanks. It's awesome! You can check out Blind Guardian's version of "Spread Your Wings" here... http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000006SZZ/qid=1107398947/sr=8-11/ref=pd_bbs_11/104-1787733-4967110?v=glance&s=music&n=507846 (track 6).

I don't know if anyone here caught American Idol last night, but there was a guy on towards the end that sang "We are the champions". Paula Abdul said that if she closed her eyes, it sounded like Freddy Mercury. I think maybe she was referring to Freddy Mercury now, because I sure did not here the same thing. I've never heard anyone come close to his vocal range, with the exception of possibly, George Michael. I thought that he would make a good replacement for Freddy, should the band ever decide to reunite. I do doubt that this will ever happen, though.
