Goodbye Sweet's

Lost my 16 yr. old Sweet Pea tonight. Everything was fine with her all day and then stomach bloat hit her at 8:30 tonight and she was gone at 9:15. Damned E-Vet stuck me for 400 bucks for an x-ray and the needle to euthanize her. No more animals for me, they're too hard to lose. Life sucks right now.29pj20x3o2xw.jpg

Very sorry to hear that, Charley. Our pets really do become another family member and it hurts like crazy when we can't do anything to help them anymore. She looks like a real Sweet girl. o:)

At 16 she had a good life. While it hurts, don't let that stop you from getting another dog. Take care.

"Sweet Pea" one of our wonderful pets was loved and taken care of for 16 years by Charlie and family. No doubt, she returned the love.

Thanks everyone. We gave her the best life and she wanted for nothing. Girlfriend got her from the pound years ago. She was one day from being put down at shelter because no one wanted her. She was still walking 2 miles a day till the weather got hot.
She was actually barking and nagging us last night to go for a walk but it was too hot for her. Life can sure change on a dime.

When they leave, they leave a large hole in our lives, at least for awhile. That just means that they meant so much while they were here.
You did well for Sweet Pea and she did well by you.

May I share something that was very special to me when I lost a true best friend some years back:
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Very sorry for your loss Charley as dogs are some of the best friends we can have.

We're on our 5th dog now and after each one has died we always said no more. However as you can guess we always get another one and we are always glad we did. One of the best ways to get over the loss of a dog is to get another one. We also never forget the ones we had before and the joy of having them.

My wife has instructions that if I go before our present dog she takes him to the casket to let him know I'm gone so he isn't waiting by the window wondering when I'll be back.
