My neighbor is looking to build out a modest system and in need of an AVR. Other than light ht duty he would like an AVR that is wifi enabled in order to stream music. Budget is $250. Anyone have something that fits the bill?

    Let him know that he will pay a good percentage of that on shipping if it's not local. I got a closeout Marantz slimline for $299 to fill a gap for music more than anything eles and I was so pleased that I have since bought a Marantz integrated. He could do good searching last years models (any brand) if he is not in a huge hurry.

    Good point on the shipping. That’s a smoking deal on the Marantz. I found him a Yamaha Aventage RX-1040 for $350 locally. A little over his budget but a lot of AVR for pretty decent price.

    Recommendations for used AVR w/5 channel pre outs* for outdoor 4 spkr sound system. Mostly for music some televised fall sports events. Favor smaller chassis. System will NOT be in a climate-controlled environment

    What’s important:
    Remote control,
    HDMI connections obviously
    Prefer Digital coax for Circa ‘90s CD changer.
    reliability** above “super SQ”
    Blue tooth nice but modules are available

    * Parasound HCA-855🤩 handling the watts
    ** system powered by dedicated AC feed but no plan for power conditioner
