I won’t even address this overly generalized and highly inflammatory comment from the man who educates himself via google. Though I’m sure the next time you need significant medical treatment, you’ll still seek one of us.

@Joey_V How come all the info I find says my hepa air purifier won't do squat about viruses because it only captures down to 0.3 microns but a surgical mask offers some level of protection?

Covid is measured at 0.1 micron. But it needs a droplet vehicle/vector therefore it can be filtered via the n95, etc. A surgical mask is a 3 ply woven fabric, not as good as n95 especially since there is always lack of facial seal... but still WAY better than nothing. We use hepa filters at the end of aerosolized machines such as bipap and nebulizers.

That’s actually a good question. I looked it up after I read up on it a few months back.

    Yeah man.

I am hoping May comes and we see a decline and we can come out. I honestly don’t see this covid being a significant issue past June. I’m hoping this doesn’t become seasonal like the original SARS and MERS. Either way, with herd immunity and hopefully a vaccine, we will push past this until the next interspecie mingling of virii.

Viral video advises washing fruit and vegetables with soap: Here's why that's a bad idea.
    https://www.foxnews.com/science/viral-video-advises-washing-fruit-and-vegetables-with-soap-heres-why-thats-a-bad-idea
I think I'll stick to the video. Soap most likely does not penetrate the skin of an Orange within a minute or two. Plus, I don't eat the skin. Grapes, strawberries, blueberries and the like I simply do not purchase right now. There are plenty of frozen fruits in the freezer I can enjoy right now.

I scrub potatoes and with hot water and a tad bit of soap while scrubbing (part of the key to remove the virus), I'd rather do that than simply wash my hands....only to pick up a potato that may or may not have the virus on it.

Tomato, tomata. Kinda like apples. They are good for you for decades then all of a sudden, one year, apples are bad for you because their skin causes cancer or some BS. Then 5 years later, another test comes out stating that the last test results or study was bogus. Now all of a sudden, apples are good for you again. I don't get into those type of games because history has shown that an apple is healthy for you.

Throughout the whole thing (this thing included), I will simply defer to common sense. If I feel I have a bit more protection using soap on things that I feel will not be harmed by it (or things where the skin will be removed), then I will do so. I will not flip flop based upon he said, she said. Regardless of credentials "on the internet", unless I am familiar with that person's work.

With that said, I'm not confronting you at all or attacking your post. In fact, I appreciate it. Having all angles in my book is a good thing. I personally just choose to ignore this one for my needs/preferences. I do agree with washing certain things with soap is not a good idea. Your mouth is one of them. Don't ask me how I know that...

    Tom

I didn't take it that way.

For all of you wishing for more specific data, this is from The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME for short), one of the sources used during the WH briefing today. I never watch the briefing, but I've been following this source since yesterday.
    • Total deaths in U.S. = 84,000 by August 4.
    • Scroll to see beds needed and ICU beds needed.
    • Also, peak deaths per day expected = 2,200/day by April 14.
    • Use the top drop down to see the same numbers, peak period etc. presented by state.
If the briefing numbers are to be believed, these could be conservative estimates, not worse case scenarios.

This is a good video to watch as he pokes a stick at the erroneous black and white guidelines that we have been given by CDC and W.H.O. regarding things such as safe distancing, whether to wear a mask or not, and whether asymptomatic persons can have any significant effect on the transmissibility of SARS-COV-2 or not. I'll keep saying it....don't trust the *experts*, trust your common sense and gut instinct.

If the video linked is accurate, it appears to be easily spread via coughing or sneezing and over a pretty large distance. And most people have little to no symptoms.
So most likely a lot of people have it. In big urban areas, it was out there in large numbers before anybody knew it. All that was needed was some time to cook.
It appears WHO was using typical guidelines instead of specific coronavirus

Bill Gates outlines 3 steps US government needs to take ‘to save lives and get the country back to work’

Here’s a recap of his plan:
    1. Shutdown: Allowing states to enact their own social distancing mandates is a “recipe for disaster” because people can travel across state lines and spread the virus, Gates wrote. “Until the case numbers start to go down across America — which could take 10 weeks or more — no one can continue business as usual or relax the shutdown,” he said. “Any confusion about this point will only extend the economic pain, raise the odds that the virus will return, and cause more deaths.”
    2. Testing: Gates said more tests need to be made available and the resulting data should be aggregated “so we can quickly identify potential volunteers for clinical trials and know with confidence when it’s time to return to normal.” He said there should also be clear priorities for who gets tested, given the lack of test-kits. He also called out the self-swab developed by the Gates-backed Seattle Coronavirus Assessment Network as an example of an efficient testing method.
    3. Vaccine: Gates said a vaccine can be created in less than 18 months with a data-based approach and rapid trials. The federal government should help build facilities where the vaccines will be made, he said.
In the column, Gates also cited his 2015 Ted Talk in which he warned the world of a COVID-19-like pandemic.

I do not believe that the Stafford act allows the Commander in Chief to "lock down" the entire nation. AFAIK, it has to be left up to the individual states.

As for #3, why can't private industry AND the Federal Government build or convert facilities where vaccines (amongst other medical needs) are made?

If they really want to have a clue what is going on, they need to pick a small community and test everybody in it for a certain length of the study. Otherwise they have no clue how many asymptomatic people are out there and studies show that they contribute to 79% of the transmission within the population.

Early advisements that people should not wear masks if they were asymptomatic will probably turn out to be something that caused the unecessary deaths of thousands imo.

posted on my town's FB page:

"Good morning all, I am an ER nurse and yesterday was by far the craziest and scariest day I have ever experience as an ER nurse. Supplies are low, more and more patients are needing to be intubated, not enough vents. Nurses and doctors are feeling defeated. And after working 12 hours nonstop I have to change in to clothes to drive home from work. When I get home I head straight to the laundry room to wash everything, take a long hot shower before I can greet my family. When I’m driving home to still see people not social distancing and not believing how serious Covid19 is , is heartbreaking. I’m having a hard time balancing work and managing my daughters school work at home to be front lines for our community. Please everyone stay home!"

Just a few days ago, this guy was predicting deaths in the millions.

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2020/03/27/ezekiel_emanuel_us_will_have_100_million_cases_of_covid-19_in_four_weeks.html?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=mixi&utm_campaign=realclearpolitics

100 million cases, with a U.S. death rate of about 1.7%....means 1.7 million deaths, give or take. Which we have the lowest rate of death with this virus than China or Italy or Spain.

Today I hear 240k deaths from the MSM. Nobody knows jack. All anyone can do is be prepared and take the necessary precautions.

Bill Gates outlines 3 steps US government needs to take ‘to save lives and get the country back to work’

Here’s a recap of his plan:
    1. Shutdown: Allowing states to enact....”
    2. Testing: Gates said more tests need ...
    3. Vaccine: Gates said a vaccine can be created ....
In the column, Gates also cited his 2015 Ted Talk in which he warned the world of a COVID-19-like pandemic.

    I think he said....REBOOT!

That’s why I don’t, I bought all of my current gear based on technical parameters alone, such as specs and measurements."
