The wife and I enjoy the outdoors a lot and have been married for 22 years. Two teenage daughters and two dogs. I have bought, fixed, used and sold pop up campers over the last 15 or so years- it became a hobby to try to fix what someone else was going to trash. Always flipped them for at least twice what I paid with minimal cost but a lot of work.
Anyway, for the last couple of years we have been looking to upgrade to a hybrid travel trailer. Gives the wife the feeling of tent camping with the fold out bed end and allows me the chance to enjoy camping after three back surgeries......I had been looking at a used one at a somewhat local dealer (about an hour away). It had been on the lot since December and they have been trying to unload it. I knew it had some water damage so I went up to look at it last week. This thing was never used -12 years old and has literally never been used. The appliances were untouched, level in jacks didn’t have a mark on them and the upholstery looked like it has never been sat in. The water damage to the rear floor was pretty bad though. I ended up offering half of their asking price and negotiated in a state inspection and new tires. They accepted and I brought it home last week. Spent the better part of four days after work and this weekend ripping out the bad wood and replacing the floor. It was contained to the rear quarter of the camper and seems to have been a vent left open or the bed end left open with the canvas stuck allowing for water intrusion.....I can say it’s as good as new now once I get new linoleum to put down. We have three weeks of trips already planned for spring and summer. We can’t wait to get out and enjoy it.

I would enjoy having one but always struggle with also having a boat. I'm not going to have two vehicles to pull toys. So at this point we just rent around the campgrounds we frequent.

I enjoy camping, but I don't do it enough. I just have a Cabela's tent cot type thing, no fancy camper.

We started out basic tent camping when we first got married - a tent and sleeping bags. Graduated to adding mattress pads and then to cots. Evolved to a pop up with kids and the dogs to have a place to be out of the elements and now to this for the multiple week trips - sometimes you need to have a space to get comfortable when you’re away for 2-3 weeks and have some creature comforts during rain or extreme heat. The trailer makes it much easier to transport chairs, table, outdoor grill, kayaks and even bikes inside while towing. The pop up made it near impossible to include all that stuff and travel easily. It’s something we really enjoy as a family and is great time spent with the kids disconnected from the real world. Some consider it “glamping” and I get that.Shawn

We have done a lot of tent camping, but it's been awhile. I enjoy it, but if we decide to get back into it, it will be with a trailer. My biggest beef with tent camping? Not being able to shower (easily anyway), I'm a bit of a neat freak.

We glamp, we set up a tent in our backyard. Bring the kids mattresses down into the tent and run electricity to it. We go swimming in the pool and don't have to use public bathrooms. The kids love it. I light some charcoal (burn off the oils) and the kids roast marshmallow over them. We will try real camping one day with the kids but for now, this works.

I'm an Assistant Scout Master in our troop. We typically camp at least one weekend a month with longer trips during the summer months, so I've done a bit of camping. Always in tents except for Klondike Derby weekend where we rent one of the cabins at our council's campground.

I love to tent camp. Only trouble is finding enough time.
Several buddies and I go on at least two long weekends, spring and fall into the Adirondacks. Backpack in, set up camp and explore. Once the exploring is done, we drink whiskey and eat way too much freeze dried food. This past trip, one friend decided sitting in the middle of the woods without a single bathroom for miles and miles, it was a great time to try curry for the first time. All I can say is thank god none of us share a tent...
This summer a buddy and I are going to Vermont to camp and mountain bike for 4-5 days. I can’t wait for that trip!
We will have a truck with us, so it will be a bit more glamorous for us than our normal backpacking trips. -

I love to camp. Fresh air, quietness, campfire, cooking out, smores. Watching the night skies uncluttered by city lights. Good memories. Did a lot with the boys when they were scouts. As a young Dad, started out with tent camping for quite a few years, then graduated to a Pop-Up. Sold the camper when the kids were grown.
With just the Mrs and I, it's all about the hotel now!

No thanks. I have more room in my tent. They are cool though. My sentiments echo Jesse's with regards to camping. Anything else is a portable house.
I'll take roughing it, using cast iron over an open flame, searching the woods for kindling and nothing but old fashioned Coleman lanterns, tents and sleeping bags. I'm there to camp, not have the luxuries of home.
I will never forget being nose to nose with a skunk. The parents were out at the campfire and it was my bedtime (probably 10 years old or so). Our tent had triangle zip down windows and I propped my head up with my pillows and with my nose against the screen, looking out into the forest barley visible from the fire, when I see this "thing" slowly struttin' along side the tent and it wasn't until I felt the wetness of its nose that I realized what it was.
I have never moved so slowly in my life. Probably took me two minutes to put my head down and didn't move again until I fell asleep.
Our dog Barney got sprayed one time up at Deep Creek, MD and I had the "pleasure" of giving him baths until the smell went away. Damn, that is one gawd awful fragrance.

We go camping as much as possible in the summer. As we live in Reno, we head out to Lake Tahoe and the Sierras in the summer. Camping currently consists of a 8 person Cabelas tent. It's enough space for me, my wife and the two kiddos (along with all their stuff. If backpacking, then it's a much smaller tent for weight considerations.
However, I'm looking at getting a multipurpose trailer for camping. This would be to simplify setup, allow us the ability to haul more stuff for the kids (paddle boards, bikes and such). It would also be nice to be a quad hauler for hunting and heading out into the desert. With all those requirements, found these made by IntechRV. These are all aluminum construction and built extremely well. No plumbing in these, which is fine by me as that just adds to the complexity of a trailer.

As a practical matter, I have never liked the tear-drop and/or "mattress on wheels" trailers. Think MUD. How do you climb in bed if it's raining and you have muddy shoes? Dressing and undressing, that laying down to get dressed stuff gets old QUICK. No plumbing. The biggest convenience of a trailer is water/shower/toilet. IMO, for what they are, they are ridiculously priced.

Indeed that was my line of thinking to. When we used to tent camp in the White Mtns. NH years ago I always brought along my 12 gauge Mossberg 500 just in case Yogi came knocking. Thankfully he never did. -

I have all of these badges from the Boy Scouts.
Jamborees, Camporees, Klondikes, weekend trips with my troop, summer camps, summer camp staff, Order of the Arrow weekends, I went camping at least once a month for a weekend or more for like 20 years.
Never once used a trailer. Sometimes a cabin 'cause January in Northeast PA mountains or upstate New York is just brutal in a tent. Even when I went with non-Scout friends on a non-Scout trip, I still had one of my tents.
I'm still collecting days and nights and probably will be for the near future if Rowan sticks with the Scouts.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Grew up camping in a motorhome as a kid (the same model from Walking Dead) and I gotta say as an adult it is way more thrilling to throw a sleeping bag on the ground in bear country (Kings Canyon). It is amazing how warm a flimsy tent keeps you at night.________________
