What I can tell you being a US Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBP) at Port Canaveral where at times we are the busiest and sometimes 2nd busiest cruise port in the world, there are now several safe guards in place. I would not let it stop you from your vacation. Not only are ALL GUEST AND CREW screened for potential exposure but we as CBP Officers at ALL airports are also restricting entry of foreigners who have traveled to inflicted areas of the globe. Anyone showing any signs or symptoms are quarantined.

    Take your vacation my friend.

From what I understand you can get exposed, be contagious yet never show any symptoms.

What we are told is it can take 14 days for symptoms to show but you can still pass it along.

I plan on getting the virus, spreading it on the ship, getting an extended vacation, free food and free healthcare. Why? Because I'm a generous guy and I would like to share.

I would think that the biggest potential issue would be the health status of passengers (and, perhaps, to a lesser extent, the crew) and not the environs. It's still basically a closed environment.

I hear ya and agree to a point. The environment will be cleaner.

I know Norwegian has stopped and even fired Chinese and or other crewmembers with ties to China. ( I know because I had to personally process them) They showed up from China for thier contracts and they were let go and sent back. Even when there was ZERO symptoms. It was out of caution and erronon the side of safety.

Royal Caribbean and Carnival has quarantined any new crew members from China and or ones that had contact with people from China. Once thier 14 days is up and they have no symptoms they are allowed to work.

And dont forget, these crewmembers also made it through the airports where CDC is staffed and they are 100% inspected before even being allowed to transit within the US to join thier vessels.

Norwegian, Disney, Royal and Carnival have all been denying boarding to any passenger with nexus to China.

I'd say the odds have been significantly reduced in the last 2 to 3 weeks of an infected person getting on a ship.

Between the Coronavirus, Zekavirus, Norovirus, buffets....not to mention the raw sewage and trash dumped into the ocean...I'll probably never get on a cruise.
