The generation that suffered the attack is almost gone. The generation that remember it as kids are largely gone. The generation or three that were taught it in school need to teach their own kids, as schools don’t spend much time on these historical landmarks any more.

Today is my mother's 91st birthday. She said she was celebrating her 13th birthday with friends when they heard news of the attack. It was early afternoon central time. My father served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. in 1944, 51 missions on B-24's stationed in Italy. 15th Air Force, 449th BG.

A date most have forgotten, sad but true.
When my kids were in jr. high I quizzed the so called history teachers. None of them knew what December 7 was. just sad. Mostly they covered civil rights, one even had a Che Guevara poster.
Just sad but then again my PIN are based on historic dates.When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

That was pretty much the case with everyone over 18. Most adults when I was growing
up had served in WWI, WWII, or Korea. My cousins all went to Vietnam.
The modern age has a lot of families with no veterans.
This is why so few care anymore. Or have any respect for anyone who has served.
