Does anyone here know where I can buy 2 MW6511 drivers for my Polk SDA SRS2 Speakers?

Also, does anyone know if these drivers can be reconed/rebuilt? I talked to Polk Customer service and I was told that they no longer have replacement parts for these. I did buy some drivers and tweeters from them the years ago.

    eBay is your best bet.

  • Thanks very much for responding. I have checked Ebay and they don't have a 6511 up there. I did do a "save search" but nothing as yet. Have you or anyone else had any experience with either Polk repair or an outside speaker repair service? Can these drivers be rebuilt?
    Thanks again.

  • Hey, thanks for the heads-up. I received an email from ebay this morning about this. I did buy one from Midwest Speaker Repair - a little pricey but ya gotta do what ya gotta do, I guess. Midwest has a couple more and I'll buy another one from them in a couple of weeks.
    Thanks again

For anyone else interested in an MW6511 replacement. I recommend (based upon my own experience) getting an original 80's MW6511 and NOT buying one as in the ebay ad listed above. The Polk "modern" replacements are not of the same quality as the originals, (again in my experience). I am not trying to stater a debate, but sharing my experience with the newer replacement MW's. The newer replacement MW6511's would bottom out in louder portions of movies in my SDA 2B's. I put some original MW6511's (thanks again @gimpod) in the 2B's, years ago, and had no problem with them.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....
