    They have some killer restaurants. Eat a great meal for every meal. Mercantile in Union Station was by far my favorite.

    You will not regret going to the Buckhorn Exchange Steakhouse to try Rocky Mountain Oysters or buffalo or elk. I was told Sitting Bull returned General Custer's sword to the army at this restaurant.

    History: The Buckhorn, which is now a National Historic Landmark, originally opened as the Rio Grande Exchange in 1893. Its founder, Henry H. “Shorty Scout” Zietz, got his nickname from Chief Sitting Bull. In 1935, Zietz forked over $25 to receive the state’s first liquor license following Prohibition. It hangs behind the second-floor bar, in case you want to see it.

    What to eat: Rocky Mountain Oysters! Bonus points if you eat them on Oct. 5, Rocky Mountain Oyster Day (a new classic).

    Fun facts: Five presidents — Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy (who tipped Shorty’s great-grandson $5 to bring him some “bones from the back” for his dogs), Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan — have all eaten here. There are more than 500 birds and animals in the Buckhorn’s taxidermy collection. (We know you were wondering.)

    According to the internet, Grimaldi’s Pizza in Denver is permanently closed. :o

    From Trip Advisor:

    "Grimaldi's has closed this location and I am pretty sure left the state of Colorado all together. If you are looking for Pizza in this part of Town Mellow Mushroom is nearby (although not that good). Better options are Osteria Marco or Marco's Coal Fired Pizza. Date of visit: July 2019"

    Grimaldi's website also states there are no locations in the Denver area. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but hopefully this saves you some disappointment while on your trip.

    Went to Red Rocks and the pedestrian mall the last time we were there. Also toured the Coors brewery. Red Rocks for a concert is something I plan to do someday, just did the day tour.

    I didn't know they were still open. Shortly after you and I went to RMAF the Fed's raided and shut down all their shops for illegal black market sales. Something like 70+ million $$$ was seized.

    Oh, that's right, you triggered a memory cell or two. This was taken while we were at RMAF. I was amazed at the variety of the goods (edibles and smoking) and knowledge of the salesperson. Armed guard there with vest, gal behind window took your drivers license and only allowed a couple of folks at a time into the locked show, er, aroma room.

    I just wanted to see what it was all about.

    Dude! Another tea snob! We should start a club or something! :)

    I will disclose, though, that I/we mostly drink black teas. I like oolongs, but Mrs. H is not a fan. We drink very few green teas, although I do enjoy jasmine teas on occasions.

    Now, as to jasmine... our daughter's father in law is on the faculty at the local medical school :) He has a lot of irons in the fire and travels to China regularly. He brought back some jasmine tea recently that is, hands down, the best I have ever had. No idea exactly what grade it is, because, of course, the packaging is all in Chinese. :)

    Our default go-to tea vendor, FWIW, is https://www.uptontea.com/

    We had jasmine growing in the little garden outside our front door when we lived in northern California... I don't miss all that much about living there, but I do miss the scent of the flowers in bloom. :)


    OK, back to Colorado -- sorry for the diversion :p
