Because I didn’t get the Gotham, my wife knew the Fathoms were smaller and knew I might sneak them into the other smaller systems.

So last night she made it clear that the living room would not see a subwoofer...

I think I would be investing in moats, alligators and guard towers if I were you. You have only a few years left before the boys start knocking on the door on a Friday night... firearms training may come in handy as well. Nothing like cleaning a weapon when the doorbell rings. :p

And congrats on the subs btw...

    Bad idea. Think about it.
For one he lives in Texas. He is more than likely in the minority as most Texans have firearms so no need for the sticker.

I removed all my NRA stickers from my vehicle and home as it advertises that more than likely there is a firearm in the vehicle or house. Around my parts thieves used them to identify places to rob.
    Keep them guessing I say.

Don't want to derail entirely but have to comment, I have two girls and have told my eldest (13) that when she wants to date, the boy has to provide all of their social media passwords for me to peruse while on a date.

CR1 is a purely analog circuit that has high and low pass filters. I did not want to introduce an eq to the whole system.

    What would you recommend?

I've wondered why more with high resolution systems like yours and resources don't compare digital to the analog to see how much of a different really can be heard. I think in many cases it might take some time and tweaking to really know....such as the case in the link I posted above.

I see that CR1 At 2400, I believe the market price is around 1800.

I would like to believe that my trouble is bass in terms of requiring assist that is not handled by room treatments.

Below 80hz is difficult to flatten in room without eq.

My plan was to introduce the CR1 to do a high pass above 50hz to the speakers and then low pass at 60hz down to the subs. Then use the digital room correct in the subs to flatten their responses.

That’s what I was going to use the CR1 for.

Here is one of the responses...was was looking at doing the same as you with the CR-1 or the Pass crossover

    Ron,

I would hold on the CR-1 until you try the subwoofers with the onboard controls. The C4s play down to 30Hz but I would crossover around 50Hz to take some stress out of the speakers. In that case you can send full range signal to the speakers and full range signal to the subwoofers and set the low pass filter on the subwoofer at 50Hz/24 and the crossover on the subwoofer at 50Hz as well in order to get 50Hz with 24dB/octave slope. Then set proper delay/phase on the subwoofers. If you like the results, which I know you are gonna love it, you can save $3000 on the CR-1. Another option a little bit cheaper but IMHO more effective than the CR-1 is the miniDSP DDRC-88A which come with Dirac Live room correction system and can handle up to 8 channels. In your case you can have the two C4s + the pair of subwoofers and set delay/phase, levels and EQ for each one independently. The miniDSP DDCR-88A is $1000.
